Looking for a BIFL potato slicer for making fries
For serious fry-making, you want a restaurant-grade french fry cutter. The ones with the grid of blades that you push down through. They're all metal, built for constant use, and way faster/safer than hand-cutting. Brands like Nemco or Edlund make commercial ones that will last forever at home. They're not cheap ($100-200), but compared to your time and wrist pain, it's worth it. I've had a Nemco for 5 years making weekly fries - just rinse it off, no issues. Avoid the plastic ones with the sliding mechanism; they break quickly with heavy use. The commercial ones feel indestructible.

Is there any good utensils/utensil sets worth the money?
I have a bunch at different pricepoints, but really only use 4 or 5 things: Edlund Heavy Duty 12” Tongs (I prefer these over my expensive oxo tongs, since they are sprung lighter), a Lamson Fish Turner for scraping and flipping (it’s sharp, and the perfect thickness for doing everything), All Clad Silicone Spatulas, and any generic wooden spoons. I think mine is from Sur La Table, but I can’t remember. All in it’s like 40 bucks, zero plastic, and comfortable
