  What this guy said. Same elbow joint issue / self inflicted wound -- eley took pity on me as well. Eley hoses are worth the extra money. Dramm's have fallen apart after 3 years. Eley's are like new. I just wish Eley sold other watering gear so I didnt waste my time/effort.

  I’ve also had the same flexzilla 100ft hose for like 8 years. It lives outside year-round, on the east side of the house, on an Eley reel. You NEED to drain your hose and disconnect from the spigot before the first freeze, if you live where it gets cold. Water expands and breaks joints and pipes and hoses if you don’t.

  All hoses will kink. Inhale this. Some kink less than others. Eley is the king with king pricing. Continental, Goodyear or other commercial hoses are the queen with queen pricing. Flexzilla is the jack with jack pricing. The above is the BIFL hivemind cliff notes. I have multiple Flexzillas with Eley sprayers. You need to ensure that in cold winters, you winterize them. Drain the hose....remove the sprayers to store indoors. Even though mine were drained good, both my Eley sprayers burst due to internal moisture freezing. They warrantied one (with a very nice "we'll replace but you're an idiot email) and I bought a replacement as it was my own damn fault.

  Eley or the soft Gardena ones, otherwise probably the Continental ones. None of them are fussy but they’re all excellent. They’re still better off “away” but these all take different kinds of beatings way better than the competition. Having UV shade for your hose is the biggest thing imo.

  Why I keep buying Eley water tools.

  Bought an Eley wall mount hose reel and nozzle back in 2016 and just returned to buy a free-standing mount and nozzle for the back yard (a $400 investment which is why it took so long to pull the trigger lol). Reel takes a beating and keeps on ticking, and the cleaning nozzle goes hard on hosing rabbit and chicken poop off the concrete (we live on a farm). I'm so tired of buying cheap plastic brands at big box stores when Eley makes darn tough hose accessories that are long-lasting. I think an Eley hose reel is my new go-to wedding gift.

  I wasted a lot of time researching it this summer. I came to the conclusion: Best: Eley, but way too expensive Great: Continental, lasts longest but kinda stiff Flexzilla, good price point, very flexible and long lasting In general I found I wasted more time overthinking it then just buying the flexzilla and knowing that even if it just lasts 5 years it was only $75

  I do like Eley watering nozzles, though I wish they offered a long wand for watering. The standard nozzle is great quality still but it really don't care for its spray pattern. Haven't found one I like better yet. The Eley quick disconnects are second to none. They're the hidden gem of the show! No other quick connect system has 3/4" _internal_ diameter for fittings. Eley does, and it makes the fittings quite large but they're awesome quality and honestly my favorite thing they make.

  Are we running over hoses with cars these days? While Eley is the answer, my answer is Flexzilla as the cost leader. All of my hoses, regardless of maker, get an assload of teflon tape at each connection and a wipe/apply of silicone on all seals. I have a little box I take when doing hose work twice a year that contains a wire brush, rag, silicone, two wrenches and extra rubber seals. I legit do a full maintenance procedure with each undoing of a connection. I also use a lot of metal Gardena quick-disconnects and those get lubed as well. All connections have zero leaks at all times but my OCD on this topic is set to full retard.

  Thanks for the response. I'll have to look into an Eley hose reel. I have a mobile metal hose reel that has served me well used as a stationary reel with some heavy concrete holding it down, but I'd like to get a decent mounted one for another hose.

  I’m still using a hose I bought from Sam’s Club at least 20 years ago. It’s been on an Eley hose reel most of its life, and even stored outside. But it honestly doesn’t get used much since the lawn and flower beds are on a sprinkler system.

  What are your favorite niche BIFL items that are currently available?

  Yeah I jumped on the Eley hose reel & sprayer and after at least 5 or 6 years (only one take apart and cleaning so far), it is still working damn near brand new. I didn't spring for the hose (yet) but I'm more than satisfied with the reels and sprayer. I also installed Aquor house hydrants and those are really nice to use as well and solved my issue with leaving the water on in the winter.

  Eley garden hose. You wouldn’t think one company could make one so much better than the rest, but their polyurethane design is a joy to use every time. Every other garden hose I’ve ever owned sucks by comparison. Worth every penny.

  Been there, man some of those big box ones are junk right off the shelf. I grabbed one from Lowe’s last year that looked solid and it started leaking from the handle after like two uses. Might be worth ordering something like Dramm or Eley online instead of rolling the dice in-store.
