What is the BEST water filter/purifier?
I did detailed research on this years ago and ended up with an epic brand water filter, made in Colorado (just to help you find their website). They filter a ton of stuff, have pitcher and reservoir options, and only cost ~$40 at the time

TBH, most of that stuff is overkill. The vast majority of municipal water is perfectly healthy. If you rely on a well, it's a bit trickier. I did a lot of research on this and found that if you are going to get a water purifier, one size does not fit all. Since price isn't a concern, you should have your water tested and the results should inform what type of filtration (if any) you need. My water is very healthy with slightly elevated arsenic (still well below standards) so an Epic Water Pitcher is more than enough to meet my needs. Do you buy eco-friendly products?
Single use plastic is the devil, but impossible to completely ignore in modern society. We try our best with it. We use a refillable soap dispenser (OXO). We don't use bottled water (Epic water pitcher). Use wool dryer balls instead of dryer sheets. Bar soap instead of body wash. We used to use recycled toilet paper, but we've since caved in on that. The one thing I really make a point of is buying cruelty free items. My wife has a harder time because she buys makeup, but it doable. I also try to buy local produce and meats that have been properly raised. I live in Northern California, so we have it pretty good. We sure as shit aren't saving the world and certainly don't judge anyone else, but those are the few things we do.

Brita Water Filter Pitcher... Any Alternatives??
I just did a bunch of research on this and we ended up getting an Epic water filter pitcher. It's just my wife and I, so it's plenty for us. If we had kids, it may be worth it to get a RO system or at least an under sink filter. Both of those each have their own set of problems. We live in Northern California and luckily our water is pretty good—at least according to consumer confidence report released by the utility. Epic filters last 90 days and cost around $50. Cheaper if you subscribe and you can also mail 5 back to the company to be recycled and they will mail you a free one.
