Casual Women’s Clothing for 33 year Old
Like others have said-fabric and construction. I’ve found pieces at for big brands: JCrew, Everlane, Banana Republic, Aritzia (though they’re going downhill now in quality), even Zara. I stick with natural fibers-mainly cotton and cashmere. Quince quality is awful. I recommend checking out @fond.losangelas who breaks this down and gives you what to look out for!

Definitely do the chargeback - 5 weeks with zero communication is straight up theft at this point. Most credit card companies will side with you immediately on something this obvious For cashmere alternatives, I've had good luck with Everlane and Uniqlo's stuff actually holds up pretty well for the price. Not quite the same tier but way better customer service

Why is it so hard to find well-made clothes that aren't insanely priced?
Uniqlo and everlane are my staples. I buy everlane on poshmark or when they have sales. Everything I have from them lasts multiple years without wearing out.

For something that lasts, look at wool or cashmere sweaters from LL bean, ever lane or pendleton. They’re durable warm and stay comfortable for years if you care for them properly.

Best Brands or Fabrics to thrift?
I love linen, cotton, wool and leather - but don’t forget just because it’s a natural fiber it doesn’t mean it’s immediately good quality! Look for neat, even stitching and properly finished hems/seams, soft/supple feeling leather (I almost bought a leather skirt at the thrift recently but it was unlined and felt almost brittle so I left it) For wool I love Pendleton (especially the vintage stuff, it’s not too hard to find), and Brora (easier to find in the UK as it’s Scottish) For general basics I love vintage Talbots and Liz Claiborne - I find they last really well and often use natural fiber blends (so you might find polyester but less of it and the construction of the garments is better) If you’re looking to buy more modern stuff I like Everlane and Uniqlo although I’m fairly sure they’re both still considered ‘fast fashion’ even though they’re a bit more upscale

what winter coat are yall using?
Wool-blend overcoats or parkas with a clean finish might be your best bet. Look at brands like Uniqlo, Aritzia (if you’re okay splurging), or Everlane. No puff, no plasticky sheen, no faux fur. Minimalist and warm.

Nothing lasts forever no matter the quality. Also it depends on how you use the clothes, be it everyday or casual, for work, events etc. You can check for brands like Ralph Lauren (look out for the purple labels), barbour, L.L bean, Brook brother, pendleton flannels, everlane in stores (Amazon, Alibaba, ebay or wherever you make your purchases).

I’ve had great luck with Everlane’s Grade-A cashmere turtlenecks. Not the cheapest, but solid quality that lasts if you hand wash. Also worth checking secondhand for older Scottish-made pieces—they’re built to last forever.

Everlane! The best socks I’ve ever owned! I had a pack for 5 years and just bought 3 more because I always reached for those first after laundry day and got frustrated that I’d run out so soon. The original pack are a little thinner, but no holes yet.

Does anyone else feel like it's impossible to buy quality stuff anymore? Seems like every single thing I buy falls apart absurdly fast. I try to get quality stuff, but reviews are all fake, star ratings are bought... how do you avoid buying junk?
I have had the best success with trying to find upcoming brands that are trying to break through in the market. I have some excellent clothes from both Vouri and Everlane that I got years ago... but now that both are much more mainstream and have physical locations in many places, their quality has definitely gone downhill or their prices have risen significantly. New labels need to make quality goods at comparable prices to break through the market. So that kind of stuff can definitely be found if you keep your ear to the ground and are okay with buying an item from an unknown brand and returning it. Also I try to only buy from the brand website and avoid Amazon for clothes.

patagonia is my 🫶🫶🫶🫶. madewell, everlane, lululemon, and aritzia are where most of my primary wardrobe comes from although quality has gone wayyyyy downhill recently. and i adore reformation for the long dresses.
