I never want to buy cookware again
The dishwasher safe request may be the only reason I avoid All-Clad since OP never wants to buy again. While I definitely throw some of my All-Clad stuff in the dishwasher, I’m not expecting more than 10-15 years before the edges become razors (and that’s using it relatively infrequently compared to my Demeyere Atlantis and Falk cookware). All-Clad certainly meets the other criteria, but I might lean towards Hestan in this case for the sealed edges and similarly light weight.

Recommend French copper stew pot?
Falk and Mauviel generally have the same shape pots because Falk has the molds and presses them for Mauviel. They also make the handles.

What’s the BIFL item that you love but everyone around you thinks is ridiculous?
I have 4 copper pots and pans made by Falk. Purchased before kids. I love them and wish I had more. And unless my kids do something creatively destructive to them, I can't see them failing for generations. Also, they forced me to learn how to properly cook with stainless steel (or non-non-stick 🤔) pans.

Which type of pan is the BIFL king?
I’ve recently discovered Falk cookware on a trip to Germany. Holy shit. Complete game changer. I can barely lift some of these well made pans with food in them.

What frying pans are we buying? Tired of nonstick pans that only last 6 months.
Decent stainless steel pots and pans - 3 or 5 ply, carbon steel small pan for eggs and CS wok. For frying pan, a thick base one like Demeyere Proline. I've also got a copper saucier from Falk, le Creuset dutch oven for casseroles.

DeBuyer and Falk. Classic carbon steel from deBuyer, and thick copper clad frypans from the original copper cladding people, Falk. Falk Hx : “In 1985, Paul Van Achter, brought his expertise in industrial engineering to bear favourably on the manufacturing process when developing and patenting the technology that permanently bonds a 0.2mm layer of austenitic stainless steel to a 2.3mm layer of solid red copper. This bimetal process is technically known as “intercrystallisation” and was a major milestone in copper cookware development.” And unlike Mauviel, it’s still thick copper.

Brands you swear by that have Buy It For Life quality products
All Clad D3 is great, but imo if you want something nicer than that, you’re better off with another brand. Their copper core really doesn’t stand up to the competition. Falk has a significantly thicker copper layer, or Demeyere Atlantis/Proline is always a good choice

What brand / type of pots & pans are worth investing in as a young adult?
Hestan nanobond, or demeyer Atlantis for stainless Stargazer for plain cast iron. Lodge for cheaper. Staub or le creuset for enamel cast iron Blanc creatives for carbon steel. Matfer for cheaper. Faulk for copper. Really only worth it if you have gas. Generally would get a mix of fry pans in the different materials to see what you like.
