Looking for women’s boxer briefs that aren’t Woxer
Thank you for asking, I hope I can help. Gotta say right off the bat that underwear is just never bifl. Men make that mistake and it's often our responsibility here to make that disclaimer, I'm sure you know but I have to say it :) Next is the obligatory comment about Duluth trading co boxers. It is a real upgrade over the Woxer. There's also some models with Buck Naked that have fun prints. Now for more thoughts, as we are now leaving established BIFL dogma and wisdom, and entering my thoughts! My partner wrote woxer for some time, I've never been impressed by the quality, just the cool styles like tie dye. If you want the same quality without pink tax, just get men's boxers. I suggest getting men's jockey boxers at target. **These are probably your best bet** as it sounds like you're less concerned with quality, more price, which makes sense for disposable clothing. Also honorable mentions are American eagle and any other basic mall brands. They are all exactly the same as Woxer imo. That said, there is real value in good underwear, so if you're interested, take a note from Europeans: If you want high quality/long lasting underwear you may be interested in "Falke hipster warm" which is 2 ply and very well constructed. But you pay for the German Labor and transparent about suppliers. In addition to domestic and EU standards for workplace safety, they regularly audit their suppliers in more lax countries , ensuring their suppliers adhere to ethical standards for not just labor, but also the responsible use of dyes and living conditions for the animals that produce wool , etc. This is just not as not cheap as Woxer (Sri Lanka with opaque suppliers and no known codes of conduct for employees.), or Jockey (some premium models made in USA lines with American suppliers; the rest is made in central America and South Asia.) . I hope this is informative!

Ban water bottle posts
I once bought two pair of seriously expensive Smartwool socks as a broke ass student for a hiking trip. Both pairs has holes in them within two days. Never bought Smartwool again. I do have a pair from Falke that still holds.

Bombas Socks have really let me down. Any recommendations welcome!
My favorites are Darn Tough, Smartwool and Falke. As an aside, I do wear Bombas compression socks too and they have held up well for over 2 years now.

Falke Socks - A 15-year Review
I have many Falke socks including the Airport and RU5 as well as 3 different no-show models. All are high quality at a very high price, but that's diminishing returns for you. That said, my last purchase of Airport socks was in 2022, so perhaps they have been cheapened. Not all of my socks are made in Germany but I don't care about that - I care about the design and quality. You mention the Airport is thinner - it's always been a thin dress sock and, IMO, not idea for hiking use. Did you give feedback to Falke?

Falke - 15 Year Review Picture Followup
I have loved Falke for years, great quality and so comfortable, but I am sure disappointed with my recent order I just received the Family Knee Socks (first time purchase) and they stop about 2 inches below my knee, an uncomfortable stop, and will more than likely slide down because of this. I have the correct size, they fit my foot fine (and I don't have super long calves!). I haven't tried on the SoftMerino knee socks yet, but the quality does not look good, we'll see how they feel. Sadly they don't make my all-time favorite Sensitive Malaga (women) any longer, so I got the Sensitive Berlin and Sensitive London to try. The Berlin seems great, the band on the London already looks like it will pill. The London also just isn't what I was wanting with texture and thickness - I want my Malaga's back! - but I'll give them a try. The padded slipper socks have strings coming out in a few random places. They're comfy though, just not Falke's usual quality overall. Anyway, super disappointed. Falke has been my trusted favorite for more years than I can remember, and I have given them as gifts many times. This is the first negative experience I've had.

Socks and boxer briefs, preferably made in the EU
Falke are very nice, I'd recommend their climawool line.

Falke - 15 Year Review Picture Followup
I tried lots of Falke socks from various of their lines like happy, family, sensitive and for me sadly all of them start to tear apart at the heels and at the big toe after a year or so. I know its partly due to my way of walking as well but still sucks. Funnily enough the one pair thats holding up best is a pair of their wool running socks which im wearing to run regularly for over 10 years and they have no signs of tearing at all

This makes me so sad. I love Falke, I have hiking socks that are nearly twenty years old and they're still fine.

Schwarze lange Socken
You can get Falke, but price durability doesnt scale well for socks, so double the price won't mean double the years. So, not an expert, but in the end, getting relatively cheap socks (read: not the cheapest, i.e. Primark or something) is okay. I personally buy Schiesser for everyday socks, but try to use the right sock for the job - sports socks with more synthetics, wool socks in winter, durable but less comfy socks from Strauss for gardening etc.

Is this normal for brand-new Bombas?
That's disappointing because I assume they used to be better, at least based on how many people I trust told me they loved them over the years. I send a very polite email inquiring about a refund so fingers crossed. I think I'm gonna check out Smartwool, Darn Tough, and Falke based off what people in this thread have suggested.

Is this normal for brand-new Bombas?
Falke, people, Falke! No sock will ever truly be for life (thank god, think of all the foot sweat), but Falke makes fantastic socks.

Is this normal for brand-new Bombas?
I got Darn Tough because everyone is raving about them. They're good, but I've always worn Falke hiking socks and they're more comfortable for me personally and last forever. I have three pairs that I've had for 20+ years, I bought a new pair to compare. They're basically the same. Pretty much indestructible and super comfortable.

Where Does "Buy It for Life" Not Make Sense?
Falke introduced me to the concept of a left sock for my left foot and a right sock for my right foot. Because it turns out my feet are not identically shaped! Their walkie light socks are amazing.

A list of BIFL not made in the USA
Knives (and tools): Victorinox, Opinel Socks (as BIFL as socks can be): Falke, Monnet Many real luxury goods (many of those products count as BIFL) are made in Europe: Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Armani, etc.

Bought some Darn Tough Socks and can never see myself going back
Also try Falke socks. The Falke brand is the highest quality sock brand I’ve ever come across. They have premium socks ranging from everyday wear, to fashion, to high performance skiing socks.

Some good articles for Europeans?
Although the sub is very US centric, most BIFL brands in general are European, with some notable exceptions like Patagonia (which you can find in Europe). Kitchen: Demeyere, Le Creuset and Staub. I don't think there's better for cooking than these 3. Rösle kitchen tools. Italian coffee mills and machines from several high end brands. Peugeot pepper mills. Even popular Silestone counter tops are Spanish. Appliances: Miele, Siemens, Bosch... Clothing: (There's a thousand brands, but to name a few BIFL ones) Sunspel, Zegna, Logo Piana, Brunello Cucinelli, Brioni, Falke (although Socks are not really BIFL, they are for sure better than the over hyped Darn Tough around here). Luxury items: Any serious watch brands or luxury hand bags are European, just name a brand. Depending on your budget, you have a lot to choose from. And then depending on other niche stuff that you might be looking for, there's probably some local producer from Italy, Spain or Portugal that will have it in word class quality.

The wool slipper saga
Falke Slipper Socks! I’ve had one pair for about four years and they are absolutely brilliant. They aren’t exactly what you’re describing, but I think they might suit your purpose. So maybe they don’t suit you, but you should definitely check to be sure because I’ve really liked mine.
