Faribault. I love that you can machine wash on gentle. One of our cats just spit up on one a few days ago and it washed and hung dry beautifully.

Hudson Bay Wool Blanket: Modern vs. Vintage
There is def a difference in the nap. Newer production has a tighter weave and less of the lofty wool hairs that I think makes a difference. Even the Pendletons these days aren’t made that way either. It’s as though they converted to making what appears to be more of a tighter weave reminiscent of the old military wool blankets. The closest I’ve found to that type of loft in a Pendleton is the camp blanket line, but it’s a cotton/wool blend. Even those don’t have the high nap, but are thicker. The Fairbault mentioned above appears to be the real deal. I really like their product details being listed openly, so many others hide the weight because they know they make an inferior product. 10+ pound King sounds amazing. I have one of their other models and it’s holding up well with daily use. 👍🏻

Personally I’d get one from Pendleton or Faribault. But at the same time they’re more of a, softer as time goes by kinda thing, or you could always get a heavyweight fleece blanket from American Blanket Co or a Quilt from the Amish.

Whats your suggested BIFL list?
In cookware a cast iron pan is easily the lowest cost thing I can think of that will be BIFL. A good stainless steel pan will be BIFL. Faribault wool blankets. Stormy Kromer double mackinaw coat. Dehen1920 sweaters. I agree with the other poster about KitchenAid stand mixers, a good chef's knife, and carbon steel woks. I'm not sure if Filson has kept up their quality but I have had tin cloth heavy waxed cotton bib overalls and a packer coat for many years and they are really tough. Most people don't want wood furniture anymore and you can get entire dining room sets made out of oak or cherry for a few hundred bucks on places like NextDoor or OfferUp. Some of these sets are 50 years old and will last another 100 years if given basic care.
