  Moccamaster. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.

  Cool. Like others have said, you gotta find the right grind size. For light roasts I’m somewhere between 2 and 4 on my Ode Gen 2, for darker roasts I’m between 4 and 6. All finer than expected. I fill to the 10 line in my reservoir and use 60g of coffee, +/- a few grams depending on the roast. Hope that helps in some way.

It hits your BIFL criteria the best. I personally like having ceramic interior than metallic otherwise everything you drink ends up tasting like metal at the end of the day, and these are usually better than stainless steel too. It fits cup holders too, so that's that, but again this is my personal preference. If you like steel ones then I'd say surf amazon a bit, usually their top rated ones are reliable as well.

  I feel like you’re subtweeting it, but I bought a Fellow Stagg in 2020 and use it every day. It’s easy to disassemble and clean, reliable and accurate.

  Mochamaster CupOne is probably what OP is looking for and what they'd recommend. There are better, more expensive options though like the Fellow Aiden or xBloom Studio, but the CupOne is just set and forget. Which sounds more like what they're looking for.

  I have a 10 year old Yeti because I’ve never needed to replace it My husband has a 5yr old Fellow because he likes the taste of ceramic interiors over metal and likes switching between lid types

  What have you used the most at home these two years?

  We got a fellow coffee grinder (not the super expensive one, their mid-range one that is like $200) and at the time it seemed crazy to spend that to replace the 1970s spice grinder we had been using. We use it 2+ times a day every day, and it's so nice to use a nice piece of equipment, and it looks good too. I used to have a robot vaccum, but I found it so fussy to have to "pre clean" every time I ran it. Flip over the rug, pick up the dog toys, tidy the bedroom floor. And after all that, it still did kind of a half-ass job. I since got a Dyson with the green laser thing, and it's a miracle for dog hair on hard floors. I use it way more often than I ever ran the robo, because it's kind of fun to do.

  There's a few amazingly priced burr grinders out here. And even second hand grinders like Elkonig, Baratza, and some others are amazing. I grabbed a fellow Ode and upgraded the burrs back in 2023 and it's been a daily driver love that I hole lasts as long as this guy.

  I see a lot of Contigo travel mugs like this at the thrift store. Just popularity or are they problematic?

  They're alright, but I would recommend any of Kinto or Fellow's travel mugs for more durability and ease of cleaning. I currently have a Kinto as my daily driver, but I'm looking to upgrade to one of the 20oz Fellow ones with the ceramic interior.

  Same. I've tried them all - Yeti's plan stainless steel is the best. Their powder coated ones aren't bad - but won't last a lifetime of dishwasher washes. Heat & chemical exposure will degrade all powder coatings over time. Or - there are a lot of borosilicate glass ones if flavor is the priority that have silicone sleeves for drop prevention. Replace the $0.05 lid and seal and you can have sets which last forever (until dropped) and are much cheaper. Or, Fellow has some amazing looking ceramic coated travel mugs (I think it's their 'carter' line, but they have a few styles now) *if* and only if you'll always hand wash them every single time. They *will* fail in the dishwasher, and their powder coating is nowhere near as good as Yeti, rtic, Stanley, etc.

  I've been using a Fellow thermos for several years now. This thing is indestructible. You can use it for coffee or water but I just use it for water. Its easy to clean and has splash guard. It keeps water cold for several hours. I cant recommend these enough.

  BIFL request: A thermos that actually keeps tea hot for hours

  I really, really love the Fellow brand Carter mug. I’m a tea nut and also don’t love the experience of using bottles/travel mugs that don’t have the option of taking the lid off entirely to drink like a regular mug. The Fellow mug keeps tea very hot all day and it stays very warm even with the lid off for hours. It obviously works just as well for cold drinks, I just use mine more for hot beverages.

  Looking for the best electric kettle that won’t break the bank + long lasting

  If you have a sensitive palate, then temperature control is more important than if you just always use boiling water for cooking. I’ve had a couple of Fellows (a Corvo EKG and a Stagg; I liked the Corvo more because the spout has better flow whereas the Stagg is a bit more limited and controlled). These offer temperature setting for teas, pour overs, etc. for more control. I also have a cheaper Breville soft top (I think that’s what it’s called) which does the trick and won’t break the bank. It’s lasted a few years and is a good workhorse. I’ve heard decent things about some of the Cuisineart kettles but never used one myself.

  The 2nd suggestion I listed fits all of their desires. Fellow has had fantastic customer service every time I’ve contacted them. It sucks if you had a bad experience, but that’s clearly not what I dealt with.

  I love my gooseneck Stagg from Fellow. It’s out of budget at $200, but if you ever want to upgrade in the future, it’s a phenomenal kettle. I had an issue with it heating a couple months after I received it (new) as a gift and Fellow replaced the complete setup immediately, no questions asked. Like you, my mom prefers the wide pouring version over a gooseneck so I got her a kitchenaid one a few years back. She uses it daily and it’s still in great condition, never had any issues with it. It cost around $100, but I’m sure you can find it on sale at some point for $70-$80.

  Never used a glass one but I have a Fellow coffee mug I like. Stainless steel with a ceramic liner so the coffee doesn't pick up a metallic taste. Completely liquid-tight

  Wife and I both love our Fellow. Good temp control. Very nice ergonomics. Steady, clean, if slightly slow pour. It's about three years old at this point and gets used several times a day.

  Need a Coffee Maker Recommendation Under $100 CAD

  I find it easier than the traditional Aeropress + metal filter! I bought that as my original setup and then saw the Fellow Prismo suggestion on here and ordered that after I got the Aeropress. I wouldn’t consider myself weak, but MAN did I feel weak trying to get coffee pushed out with that original setup. I expected the same with the Prismo since that’s all I knew and was surprised by the ease I could press it down!

  Need a Coffee Maker Recommendation Under $100 CAD

  I also have the Fellow Prismo and it’s great. It’s not that hard to get the coffee out/push the plunger down. For reference, I’m a 5’4" medium framed woman and I have no problem pushing the top of the aeropress down. I have a bunch of different manual coffee makers and really only started to use the aeropress more frequently when I got the Prismo. I prefer the flavor to the paper filters.

  What home coffee essentials have held up and lasted you over time?

  My parents have one of those fellow goose neck electric kettles which they use every day since they do chemex pour overs. They've had it for about 5 years now and they love it so much that they kept the original packaging so they could carefully pack it and take it with them on every single vacation they go on 😂. My parents went on a ski trip recently and sure enough, they packed the kettle.... (and the chemex, which they also have the original packaging for for packing purposes lmao).

  Everything? No coffee item I have has ever broken. I have a blade coffee grinder that *might break? But not close yet. My plastic cone, clever, bialetti, are all over 15 years old. Heck the tin that I store beans in is an illy can from 10 years ago Fellows ekg kettle going on 6 years
