Plates... but specifically for when they inevitably break.
Came here to say this. For Fiestaware made since the 1980s, Fiestaware has had a 5-year no-chip warranty. But really, I have had the same fiestaware since 1996, use it hard every day, and it has never chipped, not once. That said, if you drop it on a concrete floor or some such, yes it can break. But the chipping from everyday use that we expect from stoneware, no, that is just not a thing. What this means though is that you need to choose colors you can live with, because you are going to die before those dishes do.

Fiesta still makes that same cup. I have several modern versions. They are great coffee cups, lot of mass so I always preheat mine to keep my coffee from cooling off too fast.

Modern chic plate set that is durable and won’t chip
I have smacked my Fiestaware off the edge of the counter and it didn’t chip. Have had my dishes for over a decade of daily use and not a single chip or broken dish!

I'm a big fan of Fiestaware. Made in the US. They're known for their colors but have white and just came out with another neutral, called linen. (The color release this year caused a big uproar in collector groups lol.) I went with the bistro style which I think is a bit more modern compared to the classic style. Plus is you can mix and match to whatever suits your needs. They're definitely a heavier plate but we are rough on them with no complaints.

Need advice on new dishes
We have Fiesta Ware and love it, it's nice and sturdy. I have a disability where I tend to drop dishes more often than probably is average because my hands don't always work well and I've actually never broken a dish with these. They're great too because you can often find replacements or additions in consignment. Several of our plates are a limited addition color from the 70s and they are in just as good condition as the stuff we bought new 5 years ago. Plus you can get platters and other service ware to match which we've asked for as gifts for Christmas over the years so we now have a fully coordinated set when guests come over. No complaints at all and it comes in tons of fun colors.
