Go try chairs in person if you can - your back might love smth that doesn't work for anyone else. For your budget, check out steelcase and flexispot. They've got some decent ergonomic options that won't wreck your wallet. If you're willing to stretch that budget a bit, you could also look for a used herman miller - sometimes you can snag one for a decent price secondhand. Also, your setup matters just as much as the chair. Get your monitor up to eye level so you're not constantly looking down, and make sure your chair height is right. And seriously, stand up and walk around periodically - no chair is gonna save you if you're sitting for 8 hours without moving. Hope you find smth that helps

Japanese Joinery Bed Frame Review - FlexiSpot
I've been using the Flexispot frame for a week now. It seems quite solid and is a decent value for the money. Agree about the slats being pretty rough, and wish they were closer together. I should probably have gotten the upgraded slats and may order them later. We haven't had any toe crashes into the frame but have definitely had shin collisions; it really smarts when you smack your shin on that thing! I hope our mental mapping kicks in soon! There's one annoyance so far - it is REALLY hard to get the fitted sheets on. I have an 11" Saatva mattress with separate 4" latex topper (from Sleep on Latex - SUCH nice people!) and even the "deep pocket" Kirkland sheets are really hard to put on. It takes two people. I have 1 set of Cuddledown uber-deep pocket sheets and they are a bit easier but trying to work around the frame and those rough slats is a challenge. Cuddledown sheets are IMO way too expensive for what you actually get (they don't even label the sides) so I'd rather not buy more of them. Any tips/ideas that will make it easier to put sheets on without knuckle-scraping???

At 6'4" and 300 lbs you need something actually built for your size. Herman Miller and SecretLab are hit or miss at that weight mesh sags and padding flattens with heavy use. That BodyBilt sounds legit, but yeah those prices sting. FLEXISPOT Premium Ergonomic Chair (OC4) is honestly a solid middle ground. Decent adjustability and the footrest helps when you're tall. Not BodyBilt quality but way easier on the wallet. Cheap chairs are false economy when you factor in chiropractor bills down the road lol. Bought mine a few months ago. It wasn't 100% silent when I first assembled it, but I just needed to tighten the center screws and raise the center post a bit. Now that it's broken in and properly assembled, it doesn't make a sound or move at all. Even when a couple heavy adults play a game of twister on it. Sucks it didn't work out for you.

What's are home office purchases you've made that have more than paid for themselves?
I bought the flexispot one because I needed to be slightly small than most desks. I think mine was an E5. It was bought on sale and had 2 monitor attachments. Easily the best thing I ever bought and it has 2 memory heights. My colleague uses a laptop table on top of his desk to achieve the same thing. I also use a dock so I only unplug one cable to drop it into my bag and I bought a anker usb charger to travel with - it’s just more manageable in my bag. I have a Logitech mouse and keyboard at home that uses the same receiver as the mouse in my bag and have a cabled keyboard at work.

I really like my Flexispot E7, but honestly a lot of them are pretty similar now-a-days. If you get a larger desk, you'll want a high quality and heavy-ish base so that it doesn't sway as much. Also pro tip: when assembling, most of them have you put the desk part on the floor face down and screw the base onto the desk. When you do this, you want to make sure to do it on carpet, or put down a blanket or two if you're doing it on wood or something hard. Otherwise it's pretty likely that any decently sized bit of dirt could scratch the top of your desk.

I bought a leather gaming chair and hated it sooo much. I gave it away for free on Facebook marketplace. I bought a mesh "fabric" chair on Amazon for $175, about 4 years ago. Still using it. The brand is "flexispot", if you are curious. I'm not promoting the brand, but rather recommending a "mesh" chair.

Do you think BIFL is actually cost effective?
For me, it comes down warranty and reputation of the company. Areas I have invested in: \- F&T Wax trucker jacket - last you a life time and then some. \- Kanto speaker system for computer. I switched out already 3 cheapy speakers within 5 years. I know this one will last me as long as I can take care of them. \- Computer desk from Flexispot this thing wont collapse on itself. (I have seen desks do that) \- Bombas underwear/socks - I wouldnt call them BIFL but buy them to be comfortable for X amount of years. Sure I can buy 300 shitty socks and underwear that would last me my life time. Knowing every day my ass and feet will be uncomfortable is not something I am okay with. The underwear is pretty good and creates a nice visual presentation. The socks no comparing to any other socks. \- Travel pro carry on suit case - I travel alot and having a suit case where it can hold 10-15lb backpack on top without tipping over is a major plus for me. \- Seiko or Orient watches or traditional watches in general - I personally think every man needs an actual watch. Smart watches are cool I own one. They are obsolete within a few years and materials are subpar for price. You pair a nice watch with your outfit I guarantee people will notice. In addition, watches are miniature art pieces. Coop sleep pillow - Best pillow I ever owned and since I have to sleep every night it is a no brainer. Overall, I dont think everything is BIFL I think somethings should be buy because its good quality and comfortable. Sure I can spam buy socks, pillows, or buy the subpar suit case. At the end of the day those things will still work. I tell you this my feet are comfortable. My sleep is set up for maximum quality. My travel journeys wont be as frustrating knowing whether my suitcase will get checked or fall flat forward when you have to take a shit at the airport.

Looking for L-shaped standing desk to upgrade my space
I have a Flexispot L-shaped desk (E7L). I’ve only had it for six months but it has a great warranty and is incredibly sturdy. It was NOT easy to assemble, IMO. I can DM you some pictures of my set-up if you want. I’m sure other options are good too, but I would definitely recommend this if the dimensions work (you can also customize your desk size). One thing is that it is INSANELY heavy so you’ll need help lifting after assembly and moving into place.

you could go the custom route and get a solid oak or walnut slab, then pair it with a good standing desk frame. if you don’t want the hassle, SmartDesk Levitate from Autonomous or any desk from Flexispot has a solid wood option that holds up really well

My partner and I both bought the lens from flexispot, and an ikea bambee coffee table top as the desk surface and have been very happy with our desks. https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/anfallare-table-top-bamboo-00465141 I will say that we probably would have been happier with the 3-stage legs that can go a bit lower than the standard 2-stage legs, but they are incredibly solid and well made.

where to find a standing desk for small space?
I have been happy with my Flexispot for the last 3yrs that I have been using it. Been my daily that entire time, 47" wide by 24" deep I believe. Tall enough for me at 6' tall and I have a triple monitor setup with my laptop as one of the monitors along with a 24" main and 27" in Portrait mode next to it.
