  Looking for a good vinyl player

  Depends on your price, but if you’re trying to keep it under $500 or so, I highly recommend a Fluance base model. I started with that, then eventually upgraded the platter to acrylic, and then the cartridge. It’s the best sounding audio player I have if I’m using headphones (Sennheiser IE700s or HD800s). You may have also seen Pro-ject, which are okay, but by far don’t compare to the Fluance imo (I’ve owned both). I doubt I’d upgrade to anything else under $2000 range.

  Record player. I'm caving to my vinyl head friends and jumping into the game. Looking to spend around $250 or under with speakers.

  Nah, the mid-range Fluance players at around $300-350 are pretty nice.

  Welcome to what can be a very expensive hobby. I don't know that I should recommend a BIFL turntable for your first setup. I do recommend getting separate speakers, AV receiver, and turntable. I upgraded to a Fluance RT81 and it sounds great. My one not is that it doesn't have auto return when the side is done. [Wirecutter](http://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-turntable/) recommends the RT85N. I recommend downloading Discogs app to keep track of what you own. On more than one occasion I've purchased a record I already own. Buy a vinyl cleaner. I own a carbon fiber brush made by Boundless. Even new and sealed records have shmutz. When buying used from a shop, always take it out and inspect it for scratches and mars. /r/vinyl , /r/turntables

  Need a good record player

  I did a lot of review watching and finally decided to get a Fluance RT82. They have several models at similar’ish price points depending on what exactly you want. Check out Cheapaudioman on YouTube and similar channels and they have tested the Fluance turntables and give them a high rating for performance at a ~ $300USD price range. Not junk cheap, but not stupid-audiophile rip-off price. I’ve had mine for a few years and am 100% satisfied with my purchase. I don’t expect I’ll ever feel the need to upgrade it and think it’ll last a “lifetime” with low/medium use (with the obvious consumables: stylus and belts)
