  BIFL Fluevogs: which styles?

  Duckfeet are legit - they're like the Scandinavian answer to wide feet problems. Super comfy right out of the box too, no "earning" required like with Red Wings For Fluevogs though, the Angels and Operettas seem to hold up better than the trendy styles from what I've seen posted here. The construction quality varies a lot between their different lines

  Aw you just missed their flash sale on their Bond girl boot which have lasted me almost 20 years. Highly recommend. They also will resole and stretch the calf if you need the room.

  I totally get what you mean. Once you start searching for boots it feels like an endless spiral 😂. If you like the vibe of old-school Docs but hate the quality issues, you might actually like Solovair. They’re made in the original factory and feel way sturdier without losing that chunky look. I’ve also had good luck with Fluevogs for unique colors. They’re quirky but in a good way, and people swear they last forever. A.S.98 is another one that feels more “alternative” without being uncomfortable and their leather breaks in really nicely. Honestly, it sounds like you’re super close. Just avoid the newer Doc Martens and you’ll have way better luck finding something that actually lasts.

  A list of BIFL not made in the USA

  Fluevogs- Canadian designed. Made in Portugal, Brazil, Peru, etc. Not the states as far as I’m aware. Bought mine for our wedding in 2020 and still look brand new (I did get the sole done up with a rubber protector at a cobbler)

  Buyitforlife from Canada, what’s your favourite things made in Canada?

  I'll have to come back to add more, but off the top of my head I highly recommend Ecologyst and Anne Mulaire for clothing and Fluevog for shoes.

  What’s one product you bought that has lasted forever and was totally worth it?

  fluevog shoes. they’re not completely bifl (very few shoes are) but you can buy replacement parts for them and they are incredibly well made. i have a pair from 2014 that i’ve had re-heeled but the uppers are in amazing shape, despite me wearing them everywhere. i should say i only have experience with their women’s shoes, but an ex of mine has some men’s fluevogs and they seemed similarly indestructible.
