For at home use, a simpler basic FoodSaver-style sealer is all you need and does the job perfectly. Cheap, compact, and works great for breaking down bigger cuts of meat. Soft icepacks. I keep striking out with Amazon junk. Any BIFL recommendations?
This is the way. Use food saver bags and just seal them without using the vacuum. You can make virtually any size you want, and for much cheaper than buying them. I've had several different sized ones for years that I use often. The good food saver bag material is quite durable.

Vacuum Sealer for Food?
You would prob be better off just getting a cheap food saver then. For home use it will be perfectly fine.
