BIFL Cotton Socks for a relatively active person
The amount of wool-jerking on this sub is so predictable… for some people it works, for some, we prefer cotton. I’ve had the nice Darn Toughs but they’re just not that impressive for me. I’ve had good luck with Fox River socks. Just be sure to check the description and get the highest percent cotton ones you can find. I’ve never had issues with durability. They’re thick enough to be durable, and will eventually thin a little through wear and washes. But they last a really long time. I prefer them over my wool socks unless I’m going on a backpacking trip.

Wool. Fox River specifically. You’ll get flooded with darn tough recs but in my experience they are a mediocre sock with a few “free” replacements already priced in.

Cue the darn tough circle jerk! Spoiler alert. DT is a mediocre sock with a few replacements already priced in. IMO it’s insanely wasteful. Check out Fox River instead. A **much** better made sock.

Agreed. This sub has lost its damn mind. Pair of socks with a few warranty replacements already priced in is not BIFL. Hell no sock is BIFL. For your application op, Check out Fox River. They are contracted by the military to make socks. Almost every service member I know swears by them.

Fox River - something with wool Darn tough is a mediocre sock with a few warranty replacements priced in. I’d also consider house shoes like Haflinger.

These Smartwool socks lasted me less than a month…
I have a similar experience with Smartwool. And I have way too many pairs from the promos on their website... But it's not worth it. I have Wigwam, Darn Tough, Fox River, Point 6, etc... All are in pretty good shape but I only have problems with Smartwool.
