Steel bikes.. freaking great!
I still have my FUJI road bike that I bought in 1986 for College. It spent 2 North Eastern school years in the bike rack outside my dorms.

What's something you've had forever that surprisingly outlasted its time ?
My 2012 Fuji XE-1. A good camera will always be a good camera, but for an early mirrorless it has been 100% problem free.

Why are bikes so unreliable?
This guy is comparing the Kia Rio of bikes to a Honda Civi. If I spent the same $100 that I pay quarterly for sythetic oil changes on my car on my bike it would be the most reliable and cheapest form of transportation I’ve ever owned. I have a 12-year-old 3 speed Brooklyn cruiser bike that has only need new tubes and tires twice and a new chain once and lube the chain a few times a year. It has literally needed no other maintenance in the hundreds of miles I’ve ridden it (short 3 to 5 mile trips 2 to 3 times a week.) I have a used Fuji road bike that I’ve trained for 60 mile rides on and again in the seven years I’ve owned it. I have only had to replace the chain once and the tubes and tires twice.
