House slippers for sweaty feet
Try Glerups. They are natural wool that are supposed to be breathable for sweaty feet. Since you don’t like to wear socks, if you wear them daily, I’d recommend every few days sprinkling in some baking soda then vacuuming it out after a few hours. Good luck.

Interesting. I’ve been through 2 pairs (one the sole detached, the other got a toe hole) but just assumed such wear was not covered under warranty. Went with full leather moccasins this time.

Love mine.This is a great comment but what also stands out for me because is that that could be repaired with needle felting techniques. Not saying you should have done that instead but it's truly BIFL to have both a great warranty and a product that you could fix regardless!

Glerups durability: Two years?
Can confirm that they are very repairable, I just blew through the toes of my trust pair I’ve had since 2020. Ordered a needle felting kit and voila good as new!

also worth noting that if i had sized down i think they would have been very tight to start with, just so you know. i don't wear socks with them, if i did i would be happy with the size i have (I don't wear socks bc that's what they say to do, for temperature regulation i think)

Omg YES! Some of the wool like kinda peels out a bit and the fibers stretch and they fit like a dream and are so comfy. I think it just takes some patience for it to fit to your foot

Inside and outside footwear
I was also looking at Glerups wool slippers. I like the comfort and weight of wool. Reviews on them say the break down after a few years though which could be expected of a woolen footwear. The QC were expensive but under $200 and if a BFL then a buy once cry once item.

Anyone tried/wears Kyrgies Slippers? (Kyrgies vs Glerups)
Awesome for someone to mention the other brands out there. For me, 100% wool upper is important. I like the leather bottoms in theory, but gotta be able to wear outside---so sturdy rubber. I don't own any of these, but if someone could comment if I summed up the difference here. Glerups: sturdy rubber soles, thick wool. Seem very experienced in making wool shoes. Kyrgies: more flexible, better as house shoes (bc thin rubber). VA company with the Kyrgyzstan collective. BureBure: thick wool, customizable; colors! Locally owned in Lithuania; probably the only cottage industry maker here. Geisswein/Halfinger: mainstream brands that got into the wool clogs/slippers. Baabushka: Nepal version owned by CA company; no info whatsoever. Greys: Huckleberry's knock-offs, more affordable/cheaper. I want to support BureBure but also don't wanna shell out $100+ for a style I might not like. Some used Glerups might be the way to go for 1st pair.

I cannot sing the praises of these enough. I have hated slippers basically my whole life. Always left me with overly hot sweaty feet. My wife could not accept that she couldn't find a pair that I'd like. She knew that I love wearing wool socks all the time in the colder months. She did her research and bought me a pair. I love them. Feet are always warm and dry. Always comfortable. I wear them pretty much all the time I'm home. Get home, off with the socks, put on the Glerups..

Quality house shoes?
House shoes that turn into garbage after 6 months are the worst. You need solid sole that won't shred on hard floors and uppers that can handle daily wear. These [moccasin clogs](https://nelsonfoto.com/dp-B0DBLQVXBLCH) are surprisingly good - waffle knit breathes but has actual arch support and sole that doesn't fall apart on tile. I just upgraded my Birkenstock slippers to some Glerups with rubber sole as the previous, coated soles wore out walking around the patio & driveway... the fit of the felt is very much like a super-thick wool sock, and while I cannot yet attest to the longevity of the rubber sole, I can't see them wearing out in the year & half it took for my Birks to wear thru.

What is the longest lasting house slipper?
I have many house slippers. I have insight but no answers. Glerups or off-brand Felted wool on Etsy with suede soles are great for indoors and do fine on a few steps outside. They help keep feet warm and breathe well. They give no support to the foot. I have clogs and booties, my next pair I will try a rubber sole so I can have some protection for a few steps outside hear and there. Crocs. There are tons of options. My classic clogs were fine, but I left them outside one day and the sun warped and shrank them to hell. I have some other models that are nice still. Birkenstock. I recently got a pair of cork-soled sandals and clogs. I'm currently breaking them in, so still a bit skeptical of why everyone loves these so much. I'm really hoping they hold up to the hype.

I'm on my 2nd pair, my first was a leather bottom pair and they stretched out a lot and eventually the wool developed some holes, but my newer rubber sole ones have barely any signs of wear despite having them the same amount of time as the others. I couldn't recommend them enough

Glerups Sizing Help Needed
I'm a 10.5 US M sneaker size as well, sometimes 11. Glerups claimed size 8(41) for me as well, but I bought 10.5(44) slip-on with leather sole a couple months ago. If I push my toes in snug without bending any joints and wearing regular socks, I have ~0.5" between my heel and the inner edge of the felt. When I first received them, they felt too loose and thought I should have bought a half size smaller since the heel slips out while walking. However I'm used to the heel behavior and don't notice it anymore (might slip out less but can't be sure) and since my primary goal was for a slip-on that didn't involve any bending or hand usage, I think they worked out well for me.

Glerups Sizing Help Needed
I ordered the same size as my dress shoe size, which is usually a bit smaller than my sneaker size. The felt will compress as you wear them, so if they are loose now they will probably get looser. It's personal preference how loose you want them.

Trying to decide on a pair of slippers for my dad.
I got a pair of Glerups for Christmas and I love them. Not hot or itchy. Super comfortable and with the rubber sole are quite supportive. However I don’t see that they sell wide sizes. My husband has the same size foot as I do, except wide. He tried them on and he was not happy with the width. He is quite sensitive and doesn’t tolerate any pressure on his pinky toes, so these were a no-go for him. They do, however, mold to your feet after a short break in, so your dad may be ok with them being a little tight for a bit until they adjust. Otherwise I would definitely recommend them.

I have these and find them a lifesaver for my plantar fasciitis. What do you do when the shearling comes out? Do you replace it with a different insole? Or perhaps the ones I have have a non-removable lining and so aren’t exactly the same. Having said that, I do think that 100% wool [Glerups](https://www.glerups.com) might be somewhat more breathable. At least in my experience. They usually last me about 5 years of heavy use (since work from home they are my daytime shoes too!). One of my toes usually ends up making a small hole. I keep meaning to fix them by felting a bit of wool roving in there.

I have had two pairs of glerups and I loved them both a ton. The soles wore out, but the felted wool slippers are still in great shape. I don't wear them because of the soles being trash. So yeah. Not necessarily a lifetime slipper, but still good.

How are the soles? What kind of smell? I have glerups and a pair from Etsy. My soles are almost shiny from walking around, no smell. I even wear them a few feet outside on concrete or in the garage. It may be your cats, I have dogs. Edit: I'll add I wear them barefoot. I read somewhere the water and salt from sweat works with the lanolin in the wool to act as natural anti-odor or anti-bacterial? Idk if true.

These Smartwool socks lasted me less than a month…
get some glerups, they are absolutely amazing and last a very long time. my last pair I had for at least 4 years (including lock down, so they pretty much had a year of constant wear) and still looked like new (but my feet grew a size). and with the rubber sole you can wear them outside, but they also have leather ones which might be a bit softer

Glerups are great. They run you about $100 and age nicely. Probably not buy it for life but maybe buy 3 or 4 for life. Basically they’re well made and solid and will last a long time if you treat them well.

Natural materials tend to not last as long (as synthetics) sometimes, especially if you don't take care of them. But, getting my feet out of plastic has been well worth the effort. And, in terms of construction, glerups do it best out of the big brands using natural materials that I'm aware of! If you aren't wearing the right size, that could also be contributing to the deterioration. But, I figure that's less likely the issue as you probably would have gotten rid of them sooner than now

They need a day or so to air out between wearings. I'd suggest getting a second pair that you can alternate with. My Glerups don't have any stitching at the Achilles tendon, and now that I think about it I can't recall any that do. Where did you find them? Is it possible that they are counterfeit? I found myself with a great pair of Sperrys that turned out to be counterfeit. Still have lasted for years!

Unless you are working out in a home gym in those things or taking long walks outside in them, I'm very surprised to hear that they are already falling apart. Wool does need to breathe.. night time is not a great time for the wool to refresh itself (cold and dark). The best way to refresh wool after wear is too hang outside in the sun in a breeze. That might not be reality for you (it certainly isn't for me) but, maybe having a second pair in rotation would help them both last longer if you want to wear them that much. That way they get 24+ hours to breathe between wears.
