Is it worth it to spend 1K more on a Trane HVAC over a Goodman all things more or less equal? Any realtors on here? What about resale value?
Same warranty for both, one year labor ten years parts. It’s a little split but most people seem to favor the Goodman and saving the extra money.

I had a Carrier, but the latest and greatest took weeks to get parts for when it broke or ECU's got fried in electrical storms. (Even from the AC company whose main premium line was Carrier) I went with Goodman because here in South Florida, it's more important that ALL the repair parts are available immediately and actually ON the service trucks, even the Sunday emergency service trucks. In my location that's a more important selling point than brand. I have friends who are realtors and when I let them know this, they thought that yes, immediacy of repair was an important selling point in Florida...and they would consider bringing it up during walk throughs....even though no value would be added as far as selling price.

Our Goodman is 12 years old and still crushing it here on the beach in FL. Our next will be a Goodman, I think.

I had to get an AC replaced back in like June and got multiple quotes. Went with the Goodman for warranty specifically.

I am not an HVAC tech. I have two 2011 goodman units in a duplex. Easy to get parts. Simple to service. That is what matters to me.

I agree! When we replaced our HVAC a couple years back, we did a ton of research and ended up going with Goodman because of the warranty and price, too. Our installer said the exact same thing: how well it gets put in is way more important than the brand sticker on the front. Haven’t had a single issue with it since, and no one ever asked about the brand when we sold our last place, they just wanted to know it was newer and in good shape!

Goodman is bottom of the barrel. That said, I had a Goodman Heatpump for 15++ years that worked just fine. Save the money. I know far far far too many HVAC people. This is a pretty informed opinion.

It's amazing how many houses that I go in where the people don't even know if they have a furnace or boiler. If you're selling soon, just do the Goodman. Home inspectors will most likely just note that it's new and still under warranty.

Former Trane dealer here, AVOID TRANE A/C LIKE THE PLAGUE! Crap longevity and many unique proprietary parts, including the A/C capacitor. Ridiculous. Get the Goodman, and you'll be happy you did.

Trane over Goodman will not affect your resale value one iota. Amana/Goodman has a far better warranty than Trane. Finally, the quality of the installation plays a much larger part in longevity than the brand name on the unit.
