  A stainless steel skillet or stock pan and a pot for an induction cooktop

  Look on the bottoms, for the loopy coil symbol. Stainless steel with nickel isn't magnetic unless it's treated or alloyed or laminated, such as triple ply. A shallow wide pan is Saucier.  A 4-6 quart Dutch oven also is Stock Pot.  I moved 2 years ago, got induction. I have cast iron skillets and griddle, but got all new pans, pots, utensils, lots of silicone trivets, covers. I keep a silicone craft sheet on the glass stove top all the time. I shopped Green Pan, I wanted the ceramic coated nonstick. Costco sells Green Pan.

  Healthy, slippery, quality pots and pans

  I have tri-ply Greenpan ceramic coated pans which I like quite a bit, but I do know that eventually the ceramic coating is going to fail. That doesn’t mean that they no longer can be cooked with, but the nonstick properties will degrade ober time.

  What frying pans are we buying? Tired of nonstick pans that only last 6 months.

  Loving my Made-in pans. They’re excellent and the sales that they run every couple months make the whole set really affordable. I keep a green pan nonstick for eggs bc I can’t seem to get them right on stainless. But other than that Made-In is my go to for everything.

  Need a nonstick Cookware Set without Teflon recommendation

  I've had a Greenpan for about 3 years and it's going strong. I have no idea if it's better than Teflon but it hasn't scratched off the way non-stick coatings normally can. I use it mostly for eggs or anything that's gonna be super sticky (orange chicken, honey shrimp) and then use my stainless steel for everything else.

  Ok so I’m totally lost - a lot of people saying ceramic skillets are a cheap gimmick that won’t last a year, others it is a good alternative to Teflon

  All the articles I'm reading online say that typical, reputable vendors make ceramic cookware that doesn't have burnable coatings like Teflon. This mid-grade Greenpan I got (a decade ago) has [a user manual that says it can withstand heat up to 450⁰C](https://greenpan.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/GP-CandU-EN-R2.pdf). [This person, Konstantina Antoniadou](https://greenchoicelifestyle.com/author/konstantina-antoniadou/), says they care deeply about cookware safety and greenwashing, and they've got [detailed articles](https://greenchoicelifestyle.com/is-ceramic-cookware-non-toxic/) in their "[Green Choice](https://greenchoicelifestyle.com/)" blog to corroborate that assertion. > Avoid super cheap options or cookware made in factories with poor regulation. So I think we may just be arguing over the quality level at which you can find problematic coatings on ceramic cookware. That author provides some guidance on how to avoid super cheap options. I might suggest checking out that guidance for anyone who's interested in having their understanding well calibrated.

  Is it necessary to spend $40 or $50 for an 8-10” ceramic skillet?

  Yeah I've had a set of GreenPan ceramics for about five and a half years now and they're not as nonstick as something like Teflon, but my wrists are kinda fucked up so I can't reliably use heavier pans like cast iron (plus it seems silly to replace my pans that are still working just fine). I get that ceramic isn't truly BIFL, but I wouldn't call it a rip-off and they're definitely not as bad as some folks in this thread are making them out to be.

  So is there really no non-stick pan that is safe to use as long as it isn’t chipped?

  I’ve been using a Greenpan ceramic non-stick skillet for 4 months and it’s very non-stick. I like it. No idea how long it will last or any safety concerns (received as gift). It works with my induction stove.

  Best style or brand of non-stick pan that isn’t harmful?

  I have a set of Greenpan ceramic-coated pans and they work great, and I haven't had any issues with the coating coming off after 5 years of regular use. I've had them get stuff burnt on, but Barkeep's Friend works great to get that off and doesn't seem to have damaged the coating at all.

  I've tried using stainless steel for years and can never get it. I gave up and got some non-stick ones from All Clad. My friend (who can actually cook) likes GreenPan.

  What’s your best lazy-but-functional home upgrade?

  The GreenPan counter top oven. It’s great for toasting, air frying, baking, dehydrating and so much more. I find myself using that more than my actual stove.

  Best Cooking Pans Now? Recommendation?

  I agree with those who recommend against buying a set. You might want a couple of stainless steel skillet, cast-iron skillets, an enameled cast-iron Dutch oven, a stainless stockpot— in other words different types of pots and pans for different uses. I would stay away from anything that is "Teflon" coated or not explicitly PTFE / PFAS free: if you would like a nonstick omelet pan get something that is ceramic coated and expect that it will not last forever. (I recommend Greenpan for that.)

  I have been happy with my Greenpan ceramic coated skillets, but they are not buy it for life. I would not recommend anything made with Teflon or the like; even if it *might* be safe to eat off, it is environmentally nasty stuff, responsible for the PFAS forever chemicals that we now have to deal with.

  I just purchased a green Pan 3 frying pan set at Costco for $65. No lids but I have those already from the pans I threw out. 12” lodge pan or other top cast iron pan brand. You have to maintain and season it for it to work the best. We have various sizes of pots and we use them all.

  Makes total sense. After doing my own research I would definitely buy stainless steel for myself. But I did want to point out that Greenpan does not contain any teflon, which makes it one of the safer options for people looking to buy a non stick pan.
