Need help identifying belts
Orion and Hanks are the two brands I remember seeing on here often. I’ve got a hanks belt that looks like your brown one.

They still have that great warranty. Mistakes can slip thru the cracks. Hanks will likely replace this with a brand new one. I had a belt that was a little too rough/unfinished on the inside. They replaced it no problem with a brand new one that was perfect. You have 100 years to file a warranty claim.

I have several of their belts, 2 that are daily, depending on my shoes, and i am NOT easy on things. Outside of some scratches from crawling under vehicles and putting tools on it there are, which buff out easily, they’re practically brand new after 10+ years. They also function perfectly for ccw. I carry a g45 with muzzle length light and spare mag appendix (3.2lbs for reference) quite literally every where and I almost never experience any discomfort and. holds the weight perfectly

That’s a sign it’s hand made! It also has zero impact on the life span of the belt. If you think that’s a red flag for quality, you’re waaaaay off the mark. As a leather worker myself, I can tell you Hank’s are still, and always have been, great. This seems like a petty fucking thing to mark his craftsmanship down on. Saying that, I hate that it has Chicagos screws. I wish he’d use burr rivets.

Yeah idk man I bought their reversible black/brown belt two years ago and it has held up great. Those are supposed to be less durable because it is two pieces of leather bonded together and it looks brand new except for the end being more flexible from being worked back and forth. Also bought the premium dress belt at the same time and it feels really solid but I don't wear it enough to really say I've put it through it's paces like the other one.

I have both an no issues with either. Two hanks belts, 1 is two years old and the other is atleast 7 and both look great. Maybe the quality changed since I bought them but mine are holding up great. And I’ve used Darn Tough sucks for 10 plus years and will keep buying them unless something changes. Only had to send 3 pairs back in that time.

I have 3 Hanks belts. They’re definitely durable, but not too fashionable unless you’re into cowboy or oilfield aesthetic. That said, the fact that they run constant discounts and send 3 marketing emails a day makes the brand feel like a gimmick.

I got 2 of of the montana double layer belts just over a year ago and they're amazing. But I couldn't really afford them this time around, so I went with 2 of the everyday belts, and oh my god they felt different. At first I thought it was just because it's different leather, but now after seeing this, I definitely feel like there's more to it than just that

I own a Popov and a Hanks belt. They both get abused while I work. The Hank’s belt is more ridgid but gets uncomfortable if I need to crawl around under a house. If I need the mobility, I’ll wear the Popov, any other time I wear the Hanks.

I bought a Hanks at a recommendation from this sub and was so disappointed in the quality when I compared it to an Amish made belt my brother bought a month later at half the price. My hanks belt is the best I’ve ever owned. Heck, I even bought a second one before I saw the Amish belt. The moment I happened across it though I’ve never felt so duped in my life.

I feel like I saw a post about belts a couple months ago as well. In that other thread Hanks was also brought up. Hanks is pretty expensive but I do buy a belt like every 2-3 years cause it falls apart. There was another co that was a little cheaper and seemed equally reviewed, hoping someone also reposts that one so i can remember to book mark both these this time

I second Hanks belts. I bought two off eBay, used, about 40% off. I have had them both for 4 years so far (+ however many years the previous owner had them for). Great belts, if a little thick. I used to go through a "full-grain leather belt off Amazon" belt at least once a year before I got Hanks. Recently, I've also been using a Lizard Tail rope belt, for casual wear when I don't want a thick Hanks. Only have had it for under a year now, but still in good shape.

What’s something you’ve bought once and never had to replace?
My Hank’s stitched leather belts. I used to wear out cheap leather belts regularly because they were crap “genuine” or bonded leather. I've had these Hanks for probably 12 years now and they're better now than the day I bought them.

Best anniversary gifts that actually last
Do you have a budget in mind? Because the first thing that comes to mind when I think of leather is a nice pair of leather boots. Stuff like red wings. But those easily go for $200 to $300. I've also heard good things about Hanks leather belts, they're full grain leather and supposed to be near indestructible. But I personally don't own one yet.

Name your top 5 BIFL items
My personal BIFL items 1. Darn Tough socks, with proper fitting shoes (I have wide feet, stopped wearing brands that don’t have wide feet options). 2. Cast Iron (Lodge) & Stainless Steel pots and pans (even tho it’s two, worth listing both). 3. Full-grain leather belt. I use Hanks everyday belt. 4. Any decent safety razor. Replacement blades are super cheap. I love feather blades. 5. Proper fit computer chair. I have the Steelcase Gesture. Best to try in person before getting it. And if able, pre-own to save even more money. This my personal items that I’ve actually tried and use till this day. Took lots of research and readings/watching reviews before buying these items.

Anybody have experience with “Lifetime Leather”?
Buy it or don't. You will, at the very best, get 5 replies about this company here. Likely one but I digress..... If you think that making a decision based on 5 replies is weighted evidence, you are sadly mistaken. Buy the Hanks. Poke around in r/Leathercraft and see what's poppin. Or flip a coin and buy from the new kid on the block. The answer is in the search engine based on a preponderance of evidence.

BIFL -Leather belt ??
Just breaking in my Hanks right now (first week I've owned it), was a little gift to myself after losing weight and needing a new belt. Before that I was using a 7 year old belt from Lifetime Leather Co. every day to work and that was holding up flawlessly. I switched to a Hank's belt because I wanted something a little thicker that I could hang tools / gloves from at work.

An UPDATED experience with hanks belts
I also had a lackluster experience with Hanks. Convinced by the ads and the reviews on their site, I bought two belts last month. I got the belts and I like them just fine. But now I’ve been spammed with multiple promotional emails and texts every day from them. Ads, sales, promo codes. Mostly just spam level useless drivel. Unsubscribing did not work for me. So I took screenshots of my inbox full of their emails and my text threads with more texts from them after I unsubscribed. Yesterday I left an honest three star review on their Facebook page, saying that I like the belts, but also describing the rest of my experience. I also commented to some of their ad posts on Facebook with my screenshots. Today I went to check to see if they deleted my review. I found that I’ve been blocked by them. Using another users Facebook account, I confirmed that my review has been deleted. No wonder their reviews are good, if they just delete the unfavorable ones. Anyway, this has greatly changed my perception of the company and their integrity and I figured other people might benefit from my experience.

Why is my Allen Edmonds belt falling apart?
I've had Allen Edmond Belts, and there is no way any of the ones I bought from them would do nearly as well as what I have now. I've had a number of other manufacturer belts and tried to compare what I have to Hanks many of the other makers on the internet and most just don't make the same product and for the most part aren't as transparent in regards to what they are using. But most simply don't make as thick of a belt as Hanks does. Nicks Boots makes some pretty good belts and they are tanned by the same tannery but since they are a bootmaker they aren't finished as nicely and because the last I saw they don't describe them in great detail I don't get the impression from what I did see that they have as thick a belt as Hanks premium belts.

BIFL belts at the most competitive prices?
I’ve been wearing the same Hanks belt daily for over 10 years. Much of that on a blue collar job. It still looks great and I’ve only conditioned it once. Not cheap but they have a 100 year warranty. https://www.hanksbelts.com/?srsltid=AfmBOool27ZmQFE_p3ylDXytu8jkJLPwhExZBRBXGY9lux6TGrcGdjlX For dress belts I recently started buying Anson Belts. Time will tell, but they don’t seem to be built as durable as Hanks. However, they are fairly affordable and have a lifetime guarantee. https://ansonbelt.com/?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiArKW-BhAzEiwAZhWsIAmVOMdhFAZ1wVo6OnyfAFmX2S2-CvUJsYQJrFoiQ1Ln8CshyhGDjRoCdIgQAvD_BwE

BIFL belts at the most competitive prices?
For a well known brand with a good reputation of being BIFL and 100 year warranty, the slight premium over some of the others mentioned is worth it IMO. They have a ton of options around $80 and free shipping. I only really wear two belts, one is a Hanks that's almost 15 years old and looks/works perfect despite abuse from hiking, working, and hanging junk off it.

Grip6 and Trayvax are great for durability and modular design, but if you're on a budget, check out Blue Alpha Gear or Klik Belts for rugged nylon options. For leather, Hanks or Main Street Forge last a lifetime with care.

Any experiences with Macks Belts, Nicks Boots Belts, Saddleback Leather Belts, AZ Belts, or Lejon Leather Goods?
I really like my hanks belts , have the heritage 1.25 and Wyoming bison 1.5, great quality on both sides , interchangeable buckle , well priced and there’s always deals online as well as mil discounts. Mack’s was opposite. Bought their “gunner” belt which was flimsy compared to hanks Wyoming and the inside felt like cardboard. 35 bucks more expensive than hanks and not the color online. So I went to return it and they said they charge 45 percent restocking fee due to being “handmade” which I don’t believe since it wasn’t a custom order, you literally can’t change anything on it besides the size as well as it arrived in two days which is awesome but makes it hard to believe that it’s handmade to order. Not to mention you also have to pay for shipping and handling on the return after they jack you for 45 percent of the belt which for mine was 90 dollars of the 200. Needless to say I will not be buying Mack’s again. Their belt buckle is sweet though, probably will take it off and put it on my hanks and just accept that loss.

Wallet recommendations
I have been slowly compiling a list of leather wallet makers, as recommended throughout Reddit. I'm reading reviews on different social media platforms. I have left off companies that have known issues responding to customers, always seem to have a 365 day sale, or their least expensive wallet is over $99 (like a basic card wallet). If you've had an issue with customer service with any of these, I'd be interested in hearing. Its entirely possible that you got one that fell through the QC cracks. I recently bought the everyday belt in brown, and it's *thick*. I didn't measure it, but just looking at the side profile of the leather, it's definitely thicker than your black one. I've been very happy with it.

The one you just got looks identical to the one I got 5 years ago. It's been my 7 days a week belt for 5 years. It's not as stiff as it was when it was brand new, but it's still stiffer than the next stiffest belt on the market will ever be. I URGE every who carries to buy one. Nothing else comes close and no other upgrade will make your carry as comfortable.

I will say that I had ordered a different model than the gunner my second go around. I had a pretty similar experience. I bought a brown Gunner Stitched belt 3 years ago, and it has been great...so when it was time for me to replace my black belt, I bought a black Gunner Stitched belt a few months ago. It's definitely nowhere nearly as nice -- the back and edges aren't as well finished as they were on the brown belt, with flakes of leather coming off of the back. I understand that it's a single piece of leather, but the back side of my brown belt didn't have any flaking on the back. I've also had more issues with the black belt transferring dyes to my clothing. Not sure how much to attribute to black vs brown leather or to them dropping quality, though. When I contacted them, they said it's normal for the backs of their belts to have a "raw" finish.

Well shit. Every decent company seems to just get worse after awhile. I've got a couple belts from Hank's and they're incredible. I guess I need to be careful to preserve them, since getting a replacement won't be a fair trade on that 100 year warranty.

I have a Hank’s belt I bought (The Gunner) about 7 years ago. Every single day I’ve worn it and it has help up great. I also carry most days and that extra weight and stress hasn’t worn it down. I’ve lost some weight the past year and ordered a new belt from them just a month ago. Ordered the exact same one just smaller because I guess I don’t like variety. I was nervous quality would have dropped since COVID/inflaction, etc. Happy to say the belt is identical in quality and thickness as the one I’ve had for years. It’s just a bit smaller to fit my smaller waist. I have worn the new one everyday since I’ve received it and noticed absolutely no difference in quality.
