thinking of splurging on a luggage set, any recs that'll last for years?
I have a Hartmann that is 13 years old that I’ve put a ton of miles on and it works and looks great! They’ve since been acquired but I am not looking to replace it anytime soon.

Old school Hartmann (pre 2012 when samonsite bought them and moved production from TN to off shore) is my favorite. I've got an easy 25 years out of 21" roller Hartmann and now that my son is starting to travel (18 yrs old) I grabbed a used Hartmann tweed model from eBay for $90 shipped. A new (and lower quality Samsonite built Hartmann is easily $600-800).

Looking for a recommendation for a leather attache.
For a true hard-sided attaché that will actually last, prioritize Swaine (formerly Swaine Adeney), Aspinal’s Classic Attaché, and vintage Zero Halliburton over Maxwell Scott. If you want leather, Swaine’s bridle attaché with Amiet locks and a full piano hinge is the gold standard, and they’ll service it; it’s pricey but you buy it once. Aspinal is lighter, still well-made, and easier on the wallet. Not leather but worth a look: Globe-Trotter attachés (vulcanised fibreboard, leather corners)-classic, tough, and repairable. Solid vintage options pop up from Hartmann Belting Leather and Samsonite; on eBay/Etsy, check for a one-piece hinge with no wobble, true clamshell alignment (no warping), working locks with keys/combos, and an uncracked handle core. I’ve used Zero Halliburton for flights and Aspinal for meetings, and Latico Leathers for soft pouches that slot inside, but for a classic clamshell I’d pick Swaine or Globe-Trotter. If you want a “worth the money” hard attaché, go Swaine or a clean vintage Zero Halliburton and verify hinge, locks, and handle before buying.

Briggs & Riley wheel problem
I just came searching for this. I purchased a Baseline Spinner Carry On and was confused why it kept drifting in random directions so thought I’d see if others had reported this. It’s super annoying. Looking down at the wheels I noticed that while I was rolling it often not all the wheels seemed to be making sufficient contact with the ground or had too much friction and are not rotating which would explain this. My wife has a TravelPro Platinum I just bought and my son I using a Hartman carry on. Both of those roll effortlessly. B&R should really fix this. As it is I may consider returning the bag though I like it otherwise.
