I'm looking for a device to assist with a physical limitation I have.
I like Hearos earplugs. Cheap, effective, can get them at any guitar center. Everything comes through clearly, it just takes it down a notch.

Hearos make ear plugs for musicians. If you are just wearing over ears headphones and want to mimic that level of sound isolation, look at any hearing protection with 20db nrr or less. Surefire makes good awful plugs for shooting. 26db nrr with the valves closed and 19 with them open. I believe neither rating, but they are sub $20 and fairly comfortable.

Earplugs For Sleeping

Earplugs For Sleeping
I have type 2 idiopathic insomnia and have been sleeping with earplugs for about 20 years. I know disposable earplugs aren't BIFL, but I have to recommend you give Hear-Os a shot. They are comfortable, affordable, available in bulk, and have the best noise reduction of any earplugs I have tried.

[BIFL Request] Earmuffs for sleeping
I think earmuffs would wake you when rolling in bed. Earplugs will work and are not BIFL. You toss them when they wear out. I used them for quite some time living in a busy city and worked wonderful. Hearos Xtreme works well. You can get them on Amazon fairly cheap over drug stores.
