any razor recommendations?
>Why a Henson over a razorock or Rockwell? Using a double-edge razor requires using a learned technique. Beard prep is important, as is lubricant (shaving cream.) Henson razors are much more forgiving if the user isn't familiar with a DE. They are as easy to use as most disposable razors. I shaved my face for years with a Merkur Slant 39C and Feather blades - an aggressive combination - and have a strong grasp on technique. I'm also a head shaver. I could never achieve a perfect head shave with any of my DE razors, at least not quickly and consistently. With my Henson titanium medium, it's almost effortless. Henson razors are great for anyone who doesn't have the time or inclination to go down the rabbit hole of wet shaving and just wants an easy, economical shave.

What’s something you should BIFL that most people cheap out on?
Henson Shaving makes an awesome safety razor for about $70 USD made of solid milled aluminum. It should last beyond a lifetime of use. But any high quality safety razor will suffice. Once you have the razor the safety blades are like $0.10 each (buy a pack of 100 for $10 USD and you can get 1 - 2 weeks out of each one. You will save a load of money over time not buying cartridges.
