[Request] Solid Metal Showerhead Showdown: Dual Hammerhead by The Shower Head Store vs High Sierra's Solid Metal Handheld Kit
Yeah i just installed it and it was like showering in a waterfall. The mirror gimmic is laughable, in order to see in it i have to be in full stream basically drowning 😅. Doesn't take away from an amazing shower experience though. Yeah it's loud, in the best way, like a heavy rain. I feel so damn clean. Also, i don't have to use conditioner. It weighs my hair down but I'd use to control tangles. My hair is so soft with this shower head with no filter or additives. I.love it! Never going back, its definitely better than hammer head. My hammerhead drips and is going in my guest bathroom

Something you didn’t expect to be BIFL but outlasted your expectations?
I’ve been using the same High Sierra backpack from Costco since my sophomore year of high school… I’m 25 now. It’s still in great condition and will take the straps literally falling off of that bag for me to replace it.

High Sierra. Good stuff, comfy on the shoulders. Many pockets, hidden ones as well.

Backpack suggestions?
If you’ve got some extra money to spare, Dagne Dover. They often do seasonal sales for up to 50-60% off on select bags (of all sizes, casual and travel). Lovely selection of colors too. Black Friday’s coming up, great time to check them out. Significantly smaller price point, High Sierra. Very durable bags if you treat them right (don’t overstuff). I believe both companies have [lifetime] warranties. Almost all of my bags are from either of these companies.

BIFL recommendation for shower heads?
That's a great question, and one I've discussed more than once in meetings. Maybe this will eventually get traction and that warranty will, in fact, be made longer. There are several shower head makers (including Hammerhead and Delta Faucet, but not just limited to those) who follow this pattern: limited lifetime warranty for retail customers and 5 years limited warranty for industrial/commercial uses. (Delta offers 10 years for multifamily residential.) In practice, as contrasted with their warranty coverage, High Sierra's products often last a \*long\* time. We keep hearing from people who've had their original shower heads from the 2010-2012 era, still going strong. (The two at our home - one Classic, one Handheld, were installed in January and August 2014, respectively, and we haven't had any issues with spray or finish/plating to this date.) "For nearly the same price as the 4-way combo kit I can get the hammerhead three spray dual showerhead plus a filter but the hammerhead stuff comes with a lifetime warranty." True, and a good point. One major difference to consider: the Hammerheld makes its spray in a conventional way, by dropping water through small holes. The High Sierra internally collides water, making a spray of large, heavy droplets that comes out a single large opening. That means that with the High Sierra, you can often use a lower flow rate (like 1.5 gpm) than equivalent conventional models. And that can save literally hundreds of dollars over a 5-year period, compared with, say, a 2.0 gpm model. Also, their spray feels amazing. It's hard to describe, but you can readily see the differences in side-by-side videos, for example. If you prefer the multiple spray patterns of the Hammerhead, obviously that's a reason to go with theirs. (High Sierra's has a single spray pattern, although it's modestly adjustable with the trickle valves of the 4-way combo kit.)

What removable shower head isn't a piece of junk and isn't $300
The pair of High Sierra Showerheads models we got back in 2014 have worked wonders for us. And they're still going strong. (Ours is an 80s-era tract home, not a hundred years old, however!)

Best Brands for Luggage
I just finally threw away my big soft shell/canvas High Sierra suitcase after 15 years of abuse… the outer casing of the wheels broke off around 2019 I think at 9 years, but I’ve still been dragging that poor thing all over the country since. 😂 zippers never broke, no rips in the lining. I only used it probably 4-6 times a year on average though.

Not backpacks, but my parents got High Sierra luggage for their wedding and they still use it. In case you’re wondering, they’ve been married 50 years.

Speed queen washers and dryers To an extent Toyota cars. Expecially the second gen Yaris. Weatherproof brand... Most things but the coats in particular. I have a lot of respect for high Sierra backpacks. I wish I knew what brand garden hose I have. It's been pretty great. Imagine most that are the heavy duty rubber would be similar. About 100$ per 50 ft though. And heavy. That's about all I can think of for now

[Request] Solid Metal Showerhead Showdown: Dual Hammerhead by The Shower Head Store vs High Sierra's Solid Metal Handheld Kit
We've had two of High Sierra's at home since 2014, and they're still going as strong as they did on Day One. They're practically indestructible. (And most importantly, they don't clog from hard water minerals; we kept having to clean out and ultimately replace our earlier shower heads for that reason.) Proof? My unboxing post on Reddit from that time! :) [https://www.reddit.com/r/unboxing/comments/1zet8w/unboxing\_a\_showerhead\_whats\_with\_that\_anyway/](https://www.reddit.com/r/unboxing/comments/1zet8w/unboxing_a_showerhead_whats_with_that_anyway/) I work with High Sierra now. From my understanding, they're basically all metal: brass (lead-free, too!) for the main body, with some stainless steel parts and heavy-duty aluminum tips. The non-metal parts are the flow-regulator diaphragm (silicon rubber), seals (EPDM rubber), and a newly-added, thin focusing collar made of nylon. Here's why they added that collar (see the third article in this newsletter) ... BIFL recommendation for shower heads?
Yep, they make handheld and normal showerhead versions. If you want the one that can be picked up off of the mount and used as a handheld make sure you get the one that says "kit". (The one I have is the 1.8 gallon version of this: [https://www.amazon.com/High-Sierra-Showerheads®-Handheld-Protective/dp/B0DBY1JP4K/](https://www.amazon.com/High-Sierra-Showerheads®-Handheld-Protective/dp/B0DBY1JP4K/) ). The spray pattern is great in handheld mode. Easy to target specific areas if you hold it close (like washing mud off your shins or something like that). The versions I have do not have any sort of adjustable spray. There is a little button to press that turns the water to a trickle, which is useful if you're trying to reposition something or temporarily need both hands to hold a squirming dog or something like that.

Showerhead recommendations
If you really want BIFL check out high sierra shower heads. Pricy, but pretty much guaranteed to never clog or gum up. I bought the combo in 1.8 gpm to blast through my thick hair and have never regretted it. I use both shower heads to wash and then use the trickle valves to shut the water off while I scrub. Very useful. Cons - pretty loud and pretty damn expensive. https://www.highsierrashowerheads.com/shop/combo-4-way-handheld-half-dome-chrome-standard-grip/
