  I've been using rtings for a long time. In fact, they rated the Hisense U8H as a [top value](https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/hisense/u8-u8h) that year. They did find that their model failed about 9 months into accelerated long term testing, but by that time I'd long since purchased the TV. So rtings missed at first too, but least they both with long-term testing.

  Not sure what TV to get for my use case.

  Direct sunlight is going to wash out anything, so you're right to avoid OLED unless you enjoy screen burn as a hobby. What actually matters here is real sustained brightness. Not the stupid “peak” numbers they slap on the box. If it can sit around 400 to 600 nits without cooking itself, you're in the right ballpark. Edge‑lit sets fall apart in bright rooms, so a full array backlight holds up better. Fewer hot spots, less panel sag years down the line. VA panels give you better contrast and don't turn into a grey smear when the sun hits them. IPS just gives up. If the thing has a metal back instead of thin plastic, even better. Hot rooms plus plastic shells usually end with a warped panel or lovely little cracks around the vents. Samsung’s TU8000 or Hisense’s U6 series are usually the only things in this price range that aren't complete junk. Skip the ultra thin designs. They're built for showrooms, not sunlight. And don't bother with models that rely on software tricks to goose brightness. That just burns out the LEDs faster and you end up with a blotchy mess.

  If you’ve only tried LG, you’re already off to a solid start. they last forever. Other than that you can also look at Samsung and Sony if you want something reliable with good picture quality. TCL and Hisense are pretty popular too (especially for Roku/Google TV built-in and decent value for money). If you’re just using it for streaming or as a secondary TV, even Toshiba and Insignia (Amazon’s house brand) are decent and won’t break the bank. I’d avoid super off-brands unless you just need something temporary. But honestly, LG/Samsung/TCL/Sony are all pretty safe bets.

  Looking for Recommendations: Best 65"+ 4K TV for Picture Quality (Using Apple TV Box)

  Probably not BIFL but I liked HiSense if you want to program certain apps. It works better with the Apple TV box. My LG doesn’t seem to like the Apple TV box and randomly goes blank or requires a restart.

  Does anyone else feel like it's impossible to buy quality stuff anymore? Seems like every single thing I buy falls apart absurdly fast. I try to get quality stuff, but reviews are all fake, star ratings are bought... how do you avoid buying junk?

  I just wanted to throw in that I got a Hisense HD flat screen thing last year from Costco that is essentially dumb, because you can turn off its Google functionality and it doesn’t require WiFi to operate. So I periodically turn it on momentarily to check for updates, but otherwise that stays off too. It’s pretty fast to turn on, which was problem I had in the past with other TVs and theoretically it shouldn’t stop working at any point due to software. There was an occasional audio glitch when we first got it, but a firmware update since then has fixed it, now it runs flawlessly as a dumb tv. How long it’ll last I can’t say, but I’m really happy with it. Hoping it does last, cos I like having HD but really hate smart tv bullshit and it seems like those things go hand in hand. I hope you find what you’re looking for!

  Every year I think about replacing my 2011 Samsung TV but it’s still going strong. The design and picture quality has held up. I’m sure the new TVs would blow mine out of the water side by side, however, everyone is shocked when I tell them how old it is.

  Dude this year the tv my sister bought for her room in 2007 finally died. Hisense tv that was passed to me when she went to college. Survived my college time my first and second apartment and my 3 years in my house. I still can’t believe how long it lasted

  Looking to buy a tv for my first home and want make the right purchase

  Go on Marketplace and get something less than five years old and add a streaming box. I just got my mother an Android 4K 50" TCL for $85 and cleaned it up with ADB TV and replaced the launcher with Projectivy. My bedroom TV has the same elegant setup on a mid range Hisense for about the same price. Living room TV is a Hisense U series which is very good for a budget, 55" new for $250 and a $20 ONN Android box. None are OLED but all look absolutely fantastic and do all the HDR tricks. TVs are commodities these days. Our budget TCL and Hisense have a better picture than decade old Sony and LG. Marketplace in my area shows plenty of 70" screens for under $200. Cheap enough to gamble on. It's not like the old days when a TV would cost a couple of thousand dollars if you wanted something decent and large.

  you have to take them apart and clean them or they will mold and rot. its really the only way to make them last. we use 4 hisense ones from costco. easy to disassemble and sanitize end of year

  65 inch tv 350-400 dollar price range

  Just get tcl or hisense qled or qned. Good deals at best buy. I have a 75 inch hisense and 65 tcl and they are both fantastic. DONT GET UHD. Get qled, qned, ect. The deep blacks are worth it.

  What are the Best Smart Tv Available Now?

  Honestly I'd buy a tv now based on the app they use. I currently like Google TV so that is Hisense or Sony. I wouldn't buy top of the line as TVs are so cheap now just plan to buy another in a few years if you want upgrades or just let it sit for a decade like I do. I've only updated the devices for the tv, you get used to any picture quality after awhile.

  You may check Rtings.com i bought mi Hisense U8 based on their reviews and it's amazing. I usually stream movies and play XBOX on it, and it's great. Hisense is worth it if you are buying the top of the line

  I have the Hisense U7 and I am very happy with the TV. I think the best thing you can do to extend the life of the TV is to make sure it never connects to the internet. If you want to use apps on the TV get a fire stick or shield.

  Hi, what's are some high end tv's in terms of quality performance and other specs.

  Highly recommend the Hisense u8k/u8h it's literally on another level the brightness surpasses OLED TVs and Hisense has great color tone you don't have to do to much calibration but if you can Hisense truly tears the competition apart
