What's a high quality BIFL that you carry with you every day and can't leave home without it.
You're paying for their name and warranty. IMO they're overpriced for the materials they use (plastic scales and less premium steels.) You're still getting a great product but you can get the same or better for less money. Another user mentioned the Hogue Deka which is IMO the best dollar for dollar knife out there if you can catch it on one of the bigger sales where they go for less than $100. Or you can buy a Kershaw Belair right now at MAP (minimum advertised price) with better materials and cheaper than a Benchmade.

I got a hogue deka in magnacut for $130. I highly recommend it to those who like the bugout, but don’t like the price.

How are the mighty fallen
Right now… if you don’t care about where it’s made the obvious answer is Reate, but ZT if you want US made is the closest you’re going to find to vintage Benchmade. Zero Tolerance has been surprisingly able to keep their prices reasonable for the past several years. Hogue makes great knives for the money, and of course there’s Spyderco doing the thing that Spyderco does. Their prices have gone up but not as crazy as BM. You can also find vintage BMs at reasonable prices on occasion if you know where to look.
