  Is there anything you're convinced is "the cheaper the better"?

  There have been lots of comments by people who swear by the name brand lenses, and I don't get it. I've used generic for almost 30 years and have never had an issue. I agree on the meds and cars as well... No issues with my Hyundai in the 10 years I've owned it.

  Medication like acetaminophen… you don’t have to buy Tylenol, just get the equate/members mark brand or Kirkland. This goes for a lot of things like contacts lens solution as well, and among vitamins. Also nowadays cars. Having owned Benz’s and Beemers. You can get everything in a Kia/Hyundai. Yes it’s a Kia. I get it, BUT a Mercedes c300 isn’t a Mercedes from 10+ years ago luxury built wise. They feel cheap now and are 4 cylinders just like the Kia but don’t have a warranty like them. I don’t own one btw, I’m a Toyota person and have a 4runner but when I was car shopping for my mom they left me kinda impressed compared to that rav4 le I drove and hated. As a car person that likes to work on cars and have a bunch of tools that sometimes I’m confused what it is. I will say hand tools. You don’t need the newest Milwaukee tool….. just head down to Harbor freight and get their Pittsburgh brand which has a lifetime warranty. You can also be boujee and get their Icon and daytona brand too.

  That’s a good point, people love to complain when things go downhill but don’t say much when they improve. I’d say Apple’s laptops have actually gotten better again lately. Way better battery life, cooler design, the M-series chips are wild. LEGO too! The sets now are insanely detailed compared to what we had as kids. Even cars like Toyota and Hyundai have really stepped up their game over the years

  What car just won't die?

  I have a 2007 Hyundai Azera that I love!! I've never owned a car this long! She still runs great and I've never had a problem with her! Not looking to replace her anytime soon either!

  Many goods or brands’ quality degrades over time, whether that’s through new MBA management, reputation mining, etc. What are some products currently available whose quality has only improved over time?

  Kia and Hyundai vehicles. They had not that great QC when they first started being sold in the US. One of my college friends had a Hyundai econobox and that thing just felt like a toy car. But now? I'd happily buy or recommend either (and in fact I'm a happy Kia owner).

  If you are amazed by small TRUCKS, imagine the possibilities of small CARS like a Fiat Panda, Renault Clio, VW Polo, Toyota Aygo, Peugeot 108, Fiat 500, Ford Focus, Chevrolet Spark, Mitsubishi Space Star, Hyundai i10, r/fitinafit It is proven (sorry, no sauce, look it up yourself) that trucks have less usable space than smaller cars.

  Does anything ever become BIFL?

  This was kinda what happened to Kia/Hyundai, though no car is really BIFI, except maybe some diesel engines with proper Bulletproofing. In around 2003-2004 the significantly improved their reliability, prior to that they were laughably bad cars and the only reason anyone bought them was because they were cheap and had a considerable warranty (because it was the only way they could get people to buy them). They improved their quality over the next two generations, around 2011 (and except for one bad engine they made) and 2018. I owned an 2005, it was fine but I hated working on it, it wasn’t easy to reach bolts and such, maybe my hands were too big. But if you are an elder millennial you will remember how bad late 80’s 90’s Kia’s were. They were always a joke.

  Hyundai/KIA/Genesis. Like all car makers, they have their problems. Unlike all car makers, they are getting better as time goes on. This can not be said for nearly any other car maker, relative to their past reputations and/or relative quality. Huge shout out to Mazda as well.

  Yeah it tends to happen when new buyers come into play. Private companies tend to recover more than public ones in the west. Hyundai is a good example of an eastern company gaining good quality over time. They’re not Toyota yet, but they’re a lot better than they were.
