I had a very bad/scary lung issue happen about a year ago related to air quality, so have deep dive on this subject. Happy to chat about anything in greater detail, but I found the r/airpurifiers sub to be helpful for this. More broadly, there are 3 axes by which you want to evaluate air purifiers: * ability to block particulate: this is rated as being able to capture particulates of size PM10 and/or PM10 size particulate. Think dust, pollen, etc. HEPA filters will filter these out. Most purifiers at big box stores will do this. Blue Air, Molekule, and other common brands fall in this category. * ability to block VOCs: this is rated as being able to capture “bad smells” (i.e. very small things like smoke, bacteria/mold spores, etc). A HEPA filter will not capture these because they’re too small. You’ll need something with an activated carbon filter as well. These tend to be expensive, and are usually sold as something like “hospital grade”. Austin Air and IQAir are both well thought of, but will cost you a few hundred to replace the filters each time. * price: self-explanatory, but consider both the cost of the device as well as replacement filters. On price, most people agree Coway brand purifiers are the best, along with a DIY Corsi-Rosenthal box. Finally, the [Rtings website](https://www.rtings.com/air-purifier) does a great job scientifically evaluating the effectiveness of various purifiers, though their dataset is smaller than it is for other types of appliances they evaluate, such as TVs

my second comment. I have really bad allergies myself. I use an Alen air purifier, it's really quiet on the first two lowest settings. The higher setting is tolerable too. They offer warranty as long as you get air filters from them. But if i had the money i would buy a IQAir! They're a ultra-hepa filter.

If you're really looking for the best, something like the IQAir HealthPro Plus or Blueair Protect 7470i is top-tier, but honestly, it depends on your space and what you're trying to filter out. [This post from a Redditor](https://www.reddit.com/user/mammoth_digger56/comments/1k1t9o8/air_purifier_brands_compared/) who did a crazy deep dive helped me out big time, way more helpful than most of the blog posts out there: Worth a look if you want something that actually works and not just good marketing.

Id say yes. If you have allergies especially! Late the game here but IMO I love the Austin air bedroom machine. It’s been a game changer and really makes a dent in my allergies. But I’ve also heard good things about IQ air as well, and also Aireox. I’ve used leviot 300 core in the past as well. I actually just did a tonnnnnnnn of research on air purifiers as well as I was considering if Austin air was the right one for me a bit ago and [put it all together here](https://www.cleanandhonest.com/blog/best-air-purifier-hepa-mold-allergies-more). IQAir are hospital-quality air purifiers. Nothing compares to them, full stop. They are pricey, but one is good for an entire floor of your home. We have owned ours for close to 6 years now, and aside from replacing filters it works just as good as the first day.

I run a small dog boarding business out of my home and the dust and dander that the extra dogs added was mind boggling. I tried a couple of smaller air purifiers first (I think they were Honeywell brand) and although they certainly picked up a lot of dust in the filters it just wasn't making a big impact on the overall dust in the house. So then I got a couple of bigger more robust Idylis air purifiers from Lowe's and those actually did work well enough that I noticed a reduction in the dust in the house. One of them quit working within a year however the other one is still going strong almost 8 years later. But then I got lucky and a friend offered me his IQAir Health Pro purifier when he no longer needed it and that one has made the most amazing difference in the entire house (my house is small though at 1100 square ft ). It filters out dust, dander and odors amazingly well. The filters are pretty pricey though. It is a 3 filter system and if you buy all 3 together they are about $200. But I do run the air purifier all day every day and a full set of filters last about 1.5 - 2 years for me. I highly recommend the brand.

My IQ Airs are BIFL, I had a 15 year old one where the fan motor died. I paid a small price to get it fixed and got it back like it was brand new. They told me their products are not supposed to have an expiration date.

What are the Best Air Purifier in 2025?
IQAir by a mile. I have a purifiers from Conway (nice, not expensive), Blue air (prettier, work), Levoit (not worth it IMHO), and IQ Air. By far, the IQ Air is the best of the bunch. Better filters. beefier construction. quiet and powerful. Pricy.
