Good quality boots that will last me a decade?
Irish setters are good quality and don't break the bank. I wear them daily April to December, and into my second year now. They look brand new.

Good leather boots reccomendations?
My Irish Setter (Redwing) hunting boots are super sturdy and very waterproof. I got them second hand. A more stylish choice is Thursday Boots. They are comfortable and with a goodyear welt.

Anyone keep a “BIFL Roster”?
There are Timberland pro boots that are Goodyear Welted, can be resoled, and are worn by tradesmen. Even higher end books like Redwings/ Irish setters, etc. may only last one or two seasons if constantly wet and not properly dried, oiled, or cared for.

Tired of shoes lasting 6-12 months. What to get?
Birkenstocks last. Redwings and Irish setters last. Had a pair of Brooks trail runners that lasted a decade under extreme use.

Tired of shoes lasting 6-12 months. What to get?
Let me tell you, if you're looking for a boot to last, Irish Setter Marshall boots are the ones. I wear the steel-toe ones for work. I work in automotive stamping, and I used to have to buy new boots every 6 months because the oil and lubricant we use would eat the leather up. I bought the Irish setters and they last well over a year in the same environment. I buy new ones because I get a yearly voucher for new ones so why not, but I've still got a pair that I wear at home for working that's about 10 years old now. They are not the prettiest looking boots but I'll swear by their durability til the day I die. They are quite comfortable too once broken in. They do come in soft-toe options as well, but I have never purchased those. https://www.irishsetterboots.com/work-boots/safety-toe-boots/marshall-83912.html

Stuff you will continue buying for life
LOL. I have a pair of Irish Setter 8 inch Ironworkers that are now over 20 years old. I don't wear them daily, but have had them resoled twice. They will last another 20 years with care

10 years later — still the best boots I’ve ever owned (Red Wing Iron Rangers)
Yeah they are lovely but I'm already up to 4 pairs of boots so I don't know when i'll need more at this rate! I did end up with a pair of Red wings in a funny way though - had my work boots break on a trip and got a pair of irish setter steel toes that are pretty great.

boots that last almost forever
Redwings are some of the best made shoes period. They also make a cheaper pair called Irish Setters I believe. Something else I've learned is to stay away from foam soles, which are lighter, and stick with rubber

Work is paying for me to get snakeproof/waterproof boots, what wont immediately fall apart?
I have a pair of these https://www.cabelas.com/p/irish-setter-vaprtrek-waterproof-snake-boots-for-men The first year I had them I had them in water practically up to the top lip and my feet were bone dry. I'm through my second year with them and they are still the right thing for a lot of use cases, but they are showing *a lot* of wear, and are no longer waterproof. I have put a fair amount of miles on them, and I use them for walking the dogs. But they are not withstanding wear the way I had hoped.

Best all day/everyday BIFL boots narrowed down between these two
Both of these are good brands and you would be well served by either. I would say try to find a deal online to pick between them. If you have not tried the full white outsole style before, bear in mind that sole is usually softer than normal boot outsoles and more suited for casual wear that you seek. Both brands will have that kind of sole. I suggest you try them in person if you are paying full price anyway.

Wolverine vs CAT work boots?!
I’m a fan of Irish setters. I work in water utilities, and they’ve held up well for me. I do a lot of walking and digging and am always up to my ankle in water.

Comfortable boots that'll last?
Check out Irish Setter or Thorogood. I’d advise against Redwing as they’re QC has not been as good same with their boot resole jobs.
