Kitchen torch recommendations?
Bernzomatic is propane but is the gold standard there If it really needs to be butane, get an Iwatani

Kitchen torch recommendations?
If you want to use your butane canisters, make sure the torch actually mates with a proper Lindal valve first... a lot of so called universal fittings puff gas everywhere the moment you twist them on. The bit that usually gives up is the valve itself, once it goes sloppy you just end up with a little fire hazard you cant really repair. Get something with a proper metal head rather than that cheap cast stuff that warps the first time you put real heat through it and it will spare you a lot of swearing later. A proper brass metering valve keeps the thing alive far longer, the ones with alumnium needles seize up after a year or so then you’re basically chucking the torch in the bin Try to pick a model where the igniter is a simple piezo setup you can reach with screws because if the body is riveted shut you wont be fixing anything and you end up stuck with a dead torch that worked fine yesterday but now refuses to spark even though you can see the gas coming out and you just want to finish your creme brulee. Iwatani’s pro torch head is still the one people drag around forever without much fuss.

Portable cassette gas stoves (Iwatani alternatives)
In the end I bit the bullet and got a 12k BTU unit from Iwatani. The model is ZKZ-1 it has the same wind deflector setup and a molded case as Tough Maru but a bit bigger dimension wise. Couldn’t be happier with it.
