What's one item you've owned for years that's still going strong-and was totally worth the money?
Cheap kabar folding knife (warthog,I believe) bought it cause it seemed quality for an everyday carry, had a tonto (square ish tip)blade , and half serrated. At $22,I knew it wasn't the best steel, and wouldn't be sad if I lost it. So, it seemed great for everyday needs, and indeed it is. I've had it for well over a decade as a constant pocket companion, and with some maintenance sharpening, the thing has never failed me. Geoffrey Beene slides. Nylon strap, foam rubber insoles glued to a rubber outsole. Granted, I don't wear them every day, but they're my gym shower flippy floppy's, and I wear them instead of slippers around the house in the summer. I've had them for over 20 years. It's insane, but, they just don't fail in any way. They were $20 way back when I bought them. so, not cheap, but not expensive at all. I cannot believe how they've held up.

BIFL : Commander by Emerson Knives the only knife you can completely take apart and the warranty is still good
People seem all the rave about sebenza. Is it really that good? Also, I thought cold Steel was notorious for making really tough knives. Their triad lock is really something. Kabar from what I'm aware is a really reliable brand too, though I've only heard about their fixed blades.

A few Navy divers I know like this knife as it uses a trick steel that physically cannot rust. Nitrogen is used in place of carbon in the steel.
