Grind and brew coffee maker.
And FWIW, Kasa smart plug is what I use - for whatever reason it was difficult for me to research so there you go.

Do oil filled heaters last longer than cheaper fan heaters?
I love my oil heater. I have it plugged into a smart outlet from Kasa that can be operated by Alexa. I named the outlet "heat". I can walk into my office and say, "Alexa, turn on the heat for 2 hours." Alexa will respond, "Okay, I turned the heat on and set a timer to turn it off in 2 hours." That, ladies and gentlemen, is AI working for us!

What’s a purchase that’s not fun, not flashy but now you swear by it?
Team kasa over here lol, they make great (cheap) cameras too indoor/ outdoor

What’s a purchase that’s not fun, not flashy but now you swear by it?
Kasa smart bulbs have that feature too, and are much cheaper.

Why did we accept that security cameras need monthly fees to work properly?

Why did we accept that security cameras need monthly fees to work properly?
Buy $35 Kasa security cams. I’ve used them for the last 4 years with no issues but if it goes bad, I can toss it and get a new one and plug it in. Just buy a 256 gb sd card for each camera and can record several weeks. Easy app too!

Why did we accept that security cameras need monthly fees to work properly?
They aren't the best, but my kasa cameras let me put an SD card in and that records about 2 weeks of video. I don't like that I can't skim through the video. It's watch all of it or just completely miss stuff. And the audio sucks. I imagine there are better quality cameras that do the sd card things too.

Do smart home items really work in long term?
I’ve had good experience with Kasa, for lighting for at least six or seven years now and none have failed so far. Both light bulbs/led strips and smart plugs.

Do smart home items really work in long term?
Most smart items I’ve bought have lasted considerably past the point of “I wish they would fail so I could justify upgrading to new tech.” My original Ring doorbell and cameras are going on 8 years old. My first Kasa outlets are going on six years (did replace some when doing other outlets). Upgraded smart locks for new tech, old one went to MiL’s house and is 10+ years old. Original Ecobee going on nearly 10 years old. Our original Roomba was probably the biggest new tech casualty - good and bad, it worked just as well brand new as it did 8 years later. I couldn’t justify buying a top Roborock while my Roomba was still kicking, so I ended up with a Eufy like 70% off - barely smart but it is so much quieter and does an awesome job cleaning.
