That 50 Year Old Stapler He’s Had Since His First Job
While not a battleship of a stapler like that shown above, my Kokuyo stapler is certainly quite innovative. It's a compact design yet can hold 2 lengths of no. 10 staples, it punches the staples flat, and has some leveraging mechanism that make it easier to punch nearly 30 sheets of 70gsm paper. I've had it several years and can see it lasting 15-20.

Brainstorming for souveniers from my Japan trip
These are the functional things I enjoy buying from Japan: \- nail clippers: KAI or Green Bell brand are good and easily found \- kitchen knives: so many different brands but Tojiro and Seki Magoroku are good value for money \- scissors: I'm partial to Silky brand \- the flat clinch staplers: either Max or Kokuyo brand

What’s one item you bought that way outperformed its price?
All the big ones. Pilot, Platinum and Sailor pens. Travellers Notebook, Hobonichi, Kokuyo, Midori, Maruman, and Plotter paper and planners. Jet Pens have a great selection. But I go to Japan at least once a year and stock up at Tokyu Hands, Loft and Itoya (I’m in Australia. It’s not that expensive to get to Tokyo). But the pencil I got was a no name brand at the airport. Has a little sushi charm hanging off it. And even something like that has lasted for way long than I expected it to. I’ve no doubt some of their manufacturing has been outsourced these days but the design and quality is still there in my opinion.
