Box fan equivalent request
If you're up to using something besides a box style fan, I've been using Lasko impeller/squirrel cage fans for the past 15 years. They run 24/7 for 5 - 7 years. We use them in the entertainment industry for fog/haze machines which is how I found out about them. Just clean them once every couple months and they just keep going. My first one lasted 7 years transporting it to and from work. A dirty dusty open air warehouse and a house with vapers and smokers. The only time it got turned off was the car ride to and from work and always ran on the highest setting. I'm on my second one now and it's already hit the 7 year mark. The first one died because I cleaned it maybe once every 9 months.

Box fan equivalent request
Totally relate the box fan noise is hard to replace and cheap once burn out fast. I switched to a vornado or lasko floor fan for daily use. Same air flow and sleep noise but much more durable.

Box fan equivalent request
Fans with real ball barrings last far better, so start by checking that before anything else because the cheap ones just wear out too fast and you end up buying another right away... Continuous use dries out the little sleeve parts in cheap box fans and once that happens the motor starts scraping itself apart A metal endbell is worth looking for too since the plastic ones can warp from heat over time and then the rotor rubs and it all gets noisy and rough and you sit there wondering why it failed again and it is very annoying If you want something durable look at the Lasko 3723 or the Air King 9723 as they still use proper serviceable motors Avoid the newer quiet models with brushless DC boards because the electronics give up long before the rest of the fan would have

Ceramic space heater
I've had the Lasko Designer Series 6435 since Feb 2015 and it is still going strong which I now keep in the basement. I'm actually thinking of either getting another one for the small bath room or getting the latest one the CX16550 that u/kokovox mentioned. Either way, I stand by the Lasko brand.

What’s a good fan for a small room that gets extremely hot?
You want a window fan to push hot air out of your room at a minimum. Ideally you want another to pull outside air into your room. In my experience window fans are all kinda “meh” and plastic quality wise. So take your pick from a reputable brand (Lasko). If you can’t do a window can, just know you’ll be circulating the hot air - get an Air King.

Best HEPA Air Purifier for Home?
Yes, but it’s loud. Still, you can’t beat it for the price. Lasko makes a 20x20 one that has a slot for an air filter or you can duct tape one on. This works as well as the $500 unit I bought years ago. People also make [these](https://cleanaircrew.org/box-fan-filters/)using more filters, but I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s needed for a larger room.

Best fan for apartment with no A/C?
For your apartment, a tower fan like the lasko summit or dreo nomad works great. They're quiet powerful and keep big rooms cool without much fuss. Easy to set up and perfect for day or night use.

Best fan for apartment with no A/C?
Lasko Wind Machine fan. Incredibly powerful. Not silent, but worth it. It cools off the a large room so well, even without it being in a window. I've had mine for 20 years at least. I now use it at night daily to help with my body's temperature regulation during perimenopause. It's really cut down on the night sweats, and for me to be sleeping through the night now is like a miracle. Awesome purchase. They're also not hard to take apart to clean.

What’s one item you bought that way outperformed its price?
Lesco 20" box fan from Walmart, I bought it for maybe $10-15 about 7 years ago. I use it as white noise to sleep so I have been running it 8-10 hours a day every since. Still works after it's fallen off my hamper a dozen times.

Looking for a fan to blow hot air from a loft space down to the living room
I use a lasko box fan to accomplish something similar. It’s 20 for the basic, 40 for the premium version. Air throughput seems really good for the price. I find it endlessly useful to have in my home. You can stick it in a window rather easily to vent the home or bring in outside air.
