  I second the leaf btw. I use it to shave my head and I've never had a nick. Pair it with some feather blades and it's the best shave ever. Plus I only use half the blade at a time, so double the savings. It's definitely paid for itself 4 times over easily

  The leaf razor has no learning curve it’s like an instant replacement to disposables and works for legs, got it for my gf she loves it. You take one regular double edge blade and snap it in half and boom you get two blades ready for shaving legs.

  Razors' lubrication strip becomes awful no purpose = planned obsolescence !

  I shaved my body with one for years, eventually bought one of the single blade leaf razors for the smaller head. it doesn't shave better or worse than the 10 year old merkur DE safety razor, but it's more comfortable to hold while shaving where my groin meets my legs. still uses the same blades, they just snap in half.

  I tried Rockwell and the shape, for me, felt awkward when I shaved my legs. I got a Leaf razor several years ago. When the screw in the back stripped, I sent it to them and they fixed it, cleaned it, and returned it with a pack of blades all for free. They also paid for all the shipping.

  i mean, i understand that, i guess i should have been a little more detailed. with a little practice and attention i find a safety razor to be superior to anything with gimmicky shit like multiple blades and pivoting heads or whatever for shaving a head. put your index finger against the base of your safety razor head and use your hand and wrist as the pivoter. follow closely behind with your non dominant hand and feel for any spots that were missed with the first pass. do a quick rub with the non dominant hand to spread a little shaving soap over the spot and quickly do a short second pass only where necessary. this way you’re only scraping a second or third blade against your skull skin when you need to instead of with every swipe. you’re also using a razor that’s actually bifl instead of falling apart in a couple years and being replaced by a warranty. that said, i do recognize that shaving is pretty subjective, like you said about blades, if you’ve found something that works for you you should probably just use that, even if it’s a 3 year razor, that’s pretty fucking good for something you use that often.

  I’ve had a safety razor, cartridge razors, and a leaf. The leaf is bloody amazing, I’m pretty sure I’m already ahead financially over cartridges and I’ve had maybe like, one cut in that time. It’s exactly like using a cartridge razors, except with blades cheap enough you can always have a sharp one without going bankrupt.

  Huh. I've gotten lazy over the years. As a fellow head shaver who has mainly stuck with clippers for two decades (to get it as low as possible) and then depending on the season will get it even closer to the scalp, I used to mess around with disposables, Mach 3 or whatever, and when I first got into safety razors used it for a while (though I'll admit I got the odd cut). But I ended up picking up a nice Braun electric razor a few years ago (waayyyyy nicer than the cheap electric razor I first got in the late 90s / early 2000s) and it's mostly been working for me, though when I regularly use it on my head as well as face I find I have to replace the shave head every year or so. But you've made me question if I want to try something like the Leaf on my head.....I really like the idea of it.

  A good razor, I like keeping a clean shave

  I tried the safety razor thing and cut myself a lot. Then I got the Leaf Twig and its safety razor but they just got the angles right and how the blade is secured. I've never cut myself with it and I've been using it for years. I highly recommend it. I love not spending a ton of money on razors.

  A good razor, I like keeping a clean shave

  The Leaf Twig and Thorn are perfect first safety razors to get if you’re coming from disposables. The head being angled down makes it so the angles you’re used to holding the razor at are essentially the same. I found the old school razors have a bit of a learning curve, but they’re awesome too once you learn them.

  This is from the perspective of a female: a friend gave me a safety razor and I used it for years until it broke when I dropped it. I decided to try the leaf razor and I was surprised because I love it so much more for shaving my legs. It’s definitely above $50 but worth it for me. Especially with the life time warranty.

  The he beauty of the Leaf is that the head pivots like your popular cartridge razors. The Leaf accepts three “half” blades (you just break the double edge blade in half before you unfold the paper it’s wrapped in) - call it top, middle and bottom. I found i was getting a lot of cuts with all three, then through some trial and error, only using top and middle gave me a really close shave without any nicks.

  Leaf razors. They have worked great for both of us and no more cartridges. Wife bought one off an IG ad and I figured it was a waste of money. Nope. I bet it’s paid for itself already. Ondo socks. Another IG ad my wife saw in our search for no show socks I can wear with my loafers that don’t end up under your heel. We’ve tried probably a dozen different brands and Ondo is the only one that stays put.

  I got a Leaf razor years ago & it’s great. Not cheap but I did get it on sale so it was a good deal for what it was. Company does sell through Amazon as well as their own site so maybe a sale for Prime day.

  I upgraded my BIFL razor to make it portable!

  According to the polite TSA agent at ORF last weekend, it's been a rule for the past two years that razor blades for removable blade razors (like this Merkur, or in my family's case, Leaf razors that use half blades) cannot go in carry-ons. Apparently not every airport has gotten the memo because this was the first time I, or my son in line behind me, or the older couple right behind him, had *ever* been confronted about safety razors with blades in our carry-ons. Even on that same trip, at a different airport, it wasn't an issue. This really cramps my style, too, because I rarely check bags and I really don't want to buy disposables just for travel.

And I soak them in alcohol to clean them periodically. I can’t even remember when I got it but has worked without fail.

  if you're looking for a more cartridge-like experience (Mach3, Harry's, etc), the [Leaf razor](https://leafshave.com/products/the-leaf-razor) is fantastic. It's what I use (with Astra SS blades) and it's comfortable and not overly-aggressive and nick-y. If anything ever happened to it it'd 100% buy it again. I like it enough that I'm not at all curious about the old-school single blade razors

  Leaf makes excellent razors that are easy to clean. I would buy another, if I didn’t already have a 3 blade one from them that definitely seems likely to be BIFL. So far, with cleaning and buffing, even the blades have stayed sharp for 11 months now. I shave armpits, bikini line and legs 1 to 2 times a week.

  Is shaving my face with a razor a bad idea?

  A razor has nothing to do with hair growth. It doesn’t change color or how fine or thick. Buy something you can replace the blade. There’s quite a few. It’s been used in many countries for anti-aging. Disposal should be used once. It can leave you with break outs if you reuse. What to use? Leaf is just one. It takes shaving de razor blades. There are a bunch of others with a different blade. It’s should work fine. #10 scalpel is used by some. You pick what you like but avoid disposable. Even a more reasonable reusable is 10 well it was. If you are worried around the lip I use my leaf (again preference there are more reasonable) and I do not stress and try getting it perfect. I buy a $10- 20finishing tough little shaver. The original is great and you should be able to get new at $10. After Dermaplaner use a nice moisturizer. Avoid retinols and such after first 2 days of Dermaplaning.

  I got a Leaf Razor, it's like a safety razor but with a moveable head ([https://leafshave.com/products/the-leaf-razor](https://leafshave.com/products/the-leaf-razor)). I've been using mine for years now. (I got mine back when it still came with an added plastic single edge razor, Twig or sth) Before I had safety razors, but I really love using this. And yes, the disposable blades do end up being cheaper in the long run, whether you use them in this or a safety razor.

  You should look at the Leaf razor. It has a pivoting head with three blades like a Mach 3 but the head screws off and it takes three regular DE razors. It's pretty amazing for head shaving.

Sometimes I still use a shaver when I don't have the time to shave properly, but for the rest, this is it. I don't have to use disposable razors anymore, I can use less blades and put them in different positions dependind on the type of shave I want to get... And the replacement razors are very cheap too. It's literally the best item where shaving's involved as far as I'm concerned.

  I can explain. Many of us were fed lies regarding disposable razors for a very long time. We were fed fear of cuts from safety razors. Though those plastic disposables will cut you. Now we get info online. We’re able to ask others. I questioned at Thanksgiving the cost. I bought leaf. I got assorted blades. The only thing I need to buy in the coming years is shave soap or cream. That’s it. I went mid high. There are plenty of vintage. There are other options. We’ve been fed lies.
