Is an air purifier worth it?
Levoit and PuroAir are solid choice. Levoit is compact and quiet perfect for bedrooms, while PuroAir covers slightly large spaces. Running them constantly makes a noticeable difference in dust and allergens. I use a purifier at home and, for most people, the Levoit Core 400S hit the sweet spot of quiet, smart features, and solid CADR for the price.

Let’s Talk Wirecutter: What Was Worth It and What Wasn’t?
I bought Coway (based on their recommendation) and Levoit (it's in their other list). Levoit is sooooo much better for me. I was actually trying to sell Coways (AM150) to buy two other Levoits (600S), but wasn't able to. They are different sizes, but one Levoit covering x4 area of two Coways. So it fair, imo. We had issue with AC sucking in dusty air + extremely polluted air in general where we live. Levoit cleans it all up very quick and efficiently. Coways struggle to get rid of the dust smell. Even when on full blast in a small room. Their auto on-off can be way off as well. It's either too sensitive or not sensitive enough. Random, I guess. Levoits auto mode is good. When I set Auto in Eco mode, it's a bit slow to engage, but I guess it's part of the "eco" idea. It's Wifi Connected with interactive display, showing AQ reading. Can be accessed from anywhere in the world. Coway is few buttons only, no info and no wifi. Levoit cost about 30% more when both are on sale and is absolutely worth it.

Recommend a tower fan to me? (EU)
None of these tower fans will make your room as cool as AC, but you’ll definitely feel the difference on a hot day. Dreo tends to feel like it circulates the air better overall, Levoit is friendlier for long-term use and cleaning, and Philips is mostly quiet and unobtrusive. Pick based on what YOU hate more, noise or weak airflow.

Recommend a tower fan to me? (EU)
I had a Philips tower fan before, and yeah, it was nice and quiet, but when I compared it to a Dreo, the Dreo just moves more air especially on higher speeds. The Levoit sits between them and honestly feels smoother. If “strongest” is what matters, go Dreo, but if you want something quieter and still useful for general circulation, the Levoit isn’t bad.

Silent Humidifier Maintain Set Humidity
I have 2 Levoit and love them. Very quiet
View on Redditopen_in_new - #16Dec 6, 2025
Silent Humidifier Maintain Set Humidity
Quiet humidifiers exist, but most of the stuff on shelves is built to be disposable. The fan in cool‑mist units is the main noise source, and warm‑mist units trade that for a heating element humming away. Still quieter, just a different kind of noise. The part that actually matters for holding a steady humidity is the sensor. The cheap built‑in ones drift fast, then the thing short cycles itself to death. An external capacitive sensor does a lot better, but most manufacturers skip it to save a dollar. The tank and body should be thick ABS or polypropylene. The clear plastic stuff cracks once you put it through a few heating cycles. If you go warm mist, look for a stainless steel boil chamber. Aluminum pits, scales up, and turns into a mess after a season or two. Ultrasonic units are fine as long as the ceramic disc is replaceable. The sealed ones die the moment that disc wears out. Mechanical relays last longer than the tiny solid state boards that fry when the heater kicks on a few thousand times. Some of the older Vicks warm mist units got these details right, mostly because they weren’t trying to be “smart”. Levoit’s Classic line isn’t perfect, but at least they don’t fall apart instantly. Skip anything with a touchscreen. Those panels cook themselves from the steam path and the whole thing becomes landfill in a year.

I bought two bedroom sized Levoits. I have a cat and moderate allergies so I thought they were worth a try. I noticed an immediate improvement and that has been sustained for months. You do need to change the filters every three months but overall it’s been well worth the cost.

The Best Air Purifier for Home now? Have you noticed a huge difference since you started using them?
I have a couple of Levoit and one Coway purifier, and am happy with both brands. I haven't noticed much of a difference as far as allergies go, but I have noticed a huge improvement in my interior air quality when it's smoky outside. I live in Michigan, and we deal with a lot of smoky summer days from a wildfire in Canada. This is a new climate change issue for where I live. I'd never experienced a smoky summer day until a few years ago. I have mild asthma, and air purifiers make my lungs feel better.

The Best Air Purifier on the Market Now?
I tested Levoit and Dyson, both worked fine, but the ongoing filter changes added up in cost. What really made a difference for me was combining a purifier with Sensibo, which helps me keep better control over my indoor air by monitoring air quality and adjusting the purifier and AC automatically. I noticed fewer allergy flare-ups once I started using it this way.

Best humidifiers that don’t require distilled water?
I totally get this… forced air heat can turn a house into the Sahara. Most humidifiers will work fine with regular tap water (though you might see some extra mineral buildup depending on your water quality), so you don’t always have to mess with distilled water unless your unit specifically calls for it. After years of using an ultrasonic humidifier, I bought an evaporative model last year (a Levoit one), and it’s been really easy to manage with just tap water. If you’re still shopping around, I’d check out the website ‘Air Conditioner Lab’. They’ve got a huge database of humidifiers on their homepage. You can sort by brand, type, etc, which makes narrowing down reliable options way easier.

Best Humidifier to Replace my Cheap One
Not sure I would put any humidifier into the BIFL category, but I’ve had the Levoit 6000S for two years and I’ve been really happy with it. You say you live in a studio apartment though, so it would likely be overkill for you. If you’re still shopping, the other commenters are right, you need to know the size of your space. Best humidifer for large room + winter use
I don’t have any context for the Carepod models, but I do own the Levoit 6000S and I’ve been really happy with it. I’m so glad I went with the evaporative style instead of ultrasonic. This will be my third winter using it, and the filters last me the whole season (about 3–4 months. I’m in the south, so I don’t run heat as much as someone up north might). I haven’t had to deal with any mold or funky buildup either, which was a big concern for me when I was shopping too. I think both brands you’re considering are solid though. I just checked. The Humidifiers subreddit has a [post on reputable humidifier brands ](https://www.reddit.com/r/Humidifiers/comments/1ffuk7n/humidifiers_complete_product_list_features/)and both Levoit and Carepod are on it. That thread might be worth a look if you’re still deciding.

Humidifier that can go 3 days without a refill in a large room?
I agree with everyone saying evaporative is the way to go. I bought the Levoit Superior 6000S last October after browsing this [humidifier comparison thread here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Humidifiers/comments/1ffuk7n/humidifiers_complete_product_list_features/) and sorting for evaporative models with a built-in humidistat and WiFi. When I first set it up, my home humidity was under 30%, and I did have to refill it the next day. But once it leveled things out, I was refilling every 3–4 days for the rest of the season, and it did a great job maintaining humidity. For a space your size, I’m sure you’d get similar results with any comparable model. It really comes down to tank capacity and placement. Two units sounds like a smart plan for 2000 sq ft, especially with your open floor plan.

Best Evaporative Humidifier?
Yeah, unfortunately I don’t think any humidifier is truly “Buy It For Life,” which is a bummer. That said, the better models should last you a solid 5–10 years if you take care of them. I’m in the middle of a home remodel right now, and once it’s done, I’m planning to have a whole-house humidifier installed (probably an AprilAire since they’ve got a 5-year warranty). In the meantime, I’ve been really happy with my Levoit evaporative humidifier. Wick filters are so much easier to deal with than the ultrasonic ones in my experience. If you’re still shopping, there’s a Redditor who put together a post comparing all the available humidifiers, which is pinned at the top of the humidifiers subreddit. You can even sort by warranty length. It’s been super helpful for narrowing down options.

Easy clean humidifier I don’t want to throw away after a year?
Hey OP, thanks for sharing your experiences and updates. After going down a serious research rabbit hole and using a super detailed [humidifier comparison tool](https://www.reddit.com/r/Humidifiers/comments/1i51nbe/humidifier_buyers_guide_answering_common_questions/) that another Redditor put together, I ended up with a Levoit evaporative humidifier. It’s big enough that I could take apart and clean the fan if I wanted, but honestly, I haven’t felt the need. I just use regular tap water, and the wick filters last me about three months, which works out perfectly since that’s about the length of the season I use it. I don’t bother saving them season to season, so it feels low-maintenance and I just wash the basin every few days with soapy water. If you’re looking for something that won’t feel like a disposable purchase every year, I’ve been pretty happy with this setup. I’m one year in and it has a two year warranty, so I’m hanging onto that for now.

Need Help Choosing the Best Air Purifier for Allergies, True HEPA and Quiet
Nice find-using that data helped me pick the Coway AP-1512HH that keeps my 400 sq ft room allergy-free without sounding like a jet. True HEPA plus real carbon pellets, auto mode stays under 25 dB, filters are about $45 a year if you swap prefilter monthly and HEPA yearly. I logged sensor drops with a Qingping monitor: PM2.5 fell from 35 to under 5 in 20 min. If OP needs something smaller, the Levoit Core 300S is almost silent but struggles above 350 sq ft, so run it on high for an hour before bed. Airtable and IFTTT handle the sensor logs, and Pulse for Reddit quietly pulls fresh user reviews so I can tweak settings fast. Data-backed picks like that Coway beat endless scrolling.

I've been using this [LEVOIT](https://x.com/IpkizzzGroup/status/1943013972195631265) air purifier for about five months now and I'm really impressed. It still works perfectly and the filter has a long lifespan. I don't have to turn it off often - I just have to vacuum every now and then, which really helps. I run it all day long and it's so quiet I hardly notice it, even when I'm sleeping at night. The air in the room feels much fresher and I can definitely say that the constant circulation makes it easier to breathe.

Best humidifier? Enough for a regular size bedroom.
I’ve had a few Vicks humidifiers over the years and I haven’t been thrilled with the results. With my first ultrasonic one, I had no idea it would just keep running and I ended up soaking my daughter’s carpet. We upgraded to a Levoit model in our open space. It’s an evaporative humidifier and it turns off automatically when the desired humidity is reached, so no more wet surfaces for me! I found it on this spreadsheet of humidifiers that another Reddit user posted on the humidifiers subreddit– super helpful! You mentioned your kids… I do still use a Vick’s personal steamer for myself when I’m sick (just not the ultrasonic ones). I’m not sure they are meant for little kids, but I’m sure yours could benefit with supervision.

Low maintenance humidifier for small room.
My opinion is a bit contrary to some of the ones already posted, but I personally find ultrasonic air purifiers to be an absolute pain in the butt to clean. I had one and as soon as I would forget about it for one day, it would get disgusting and I just never trusted that I was actually getting all the little parts clean. Another reddit user convinced me that I needed to get an evaporative humidifier, and it’s been a game changer. I have a Levoit that is pretty large and works well for my main living space. And for my bedroom I got a Canopy one that actually has dishwasher safe parts, so it doesn’t get much easier than that! I used this [spreadsheet of humidifiers](https://www.reddit.com/r/Humidifiers/comments/1ffuk7n/humidifiers_complete_product_list_features/) to narrow down the evaporative options. Good luck!

Best humidifier that is easy to maintain?
I’ve gone through a few humidifiers over the years, and honestly, the best one I’ve found that’s easy to maintain is the Levoit Classic 200. The tank is a good size but not too heavy, so filling it up isn’t a pain, and the wide opening makes cleaning way easier than those narrow-neck tanks. I used to dread cleaning my old humidifiers because they’d get gross fast, but this one doesn’t seem to build up as much mineral stuff if you use distilled water. The filters are easy to replace and not crazy expensive, which helps. It’s also pretty quiet, which is a must for me since I run it overnight.

The Best Air Purifiers for Home that Acutally Works?
I’ve tried a bunch of air purifiers over the years because I have allergies and two cats, and honestly, some of them are just overpriced fans. The ones that actually work for me are the Coway Airmega AP-1512HH and the Levoit Core 400S. The Coway is a beast for bedrooms and living rooms—it’s quiet, has a legit HEPA filter, and you can really tell the air is fresher after running it for a few hours. Plus, the filter replacements aren’t crazy expensive. The Levoit is great if you want smart features and app control, and it covers a pretty big area for the price. Both of these actually help with dust, pet hair, and even cooking smells.

Came to say this. During the winter when we don't need a fan (which is rare), we just turn up our Molekule or Levoit air filters off silent and that's usually enough.

Looking for a humidifier that will actually work and last me
I've tried a few humidifiers over the years, and honestly, if you want something that actually works and lasts, I'd recommend going with the Levoit OasisMist 450S. I've had mine for about a year now, and it’s been fantastic. It has a 4.5-liter tank, which lasts a good while without constant refilling, and it offers both warm and cool mist options.

People with PETS, what is the best air purifier you've used for them? Do you notice a huge difference?
Heya, appreciate the shoutout! We definitely like the 5500-2, but we're also starting to see availability issues for that specific model, with it seemingly being phased out by the 5510, which we haven't tested yet. As far as other units we've tested, the Levoit Vital 200S and Levoit Core 400S are both very solid options too, though only the Vital has a bigger U-shaped inlet that would take a lot more pet hair to clog.

I'd like to know who has a good, reliable air purifier!
There’s so many options out there now for air purifiers which is great but also like overwhelming haha. I have bad allergies and two dogs, so I really need an air purifier. But I was in your shoes not too long ago and I actually did a [ton of research on air purifiers](https://www.cleanandhonest.com/blog/best-air-purifier-hepa-mold-allergies-more)recently and compiled it, if that’s helpful for you in your search! I was looking to upgrade from my old air purifier. So imo I really like the Austin air bedroom machine. It’s really powerful, has all the bells and whistles and I think it works well for my allergies. It’s def more expensive though. If you’re looking for something cheaper, I’ve also used the leviot core 300 and felt it did make a difference even if it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles.

Good quality air purifier
There’s so many options now which is great. I’ve done a ton of research on this as I was considering upgrading my air purifier recently. If it’s helpful you can check that out here. And imo, I really like Austin air bedroom machine is you want a higher quality powerhouse with all the bells and whistles, it’s on the more pricey end though. Since your apartment is smaller, I also think you could get away with a less intense machine. I’ve also used the Leviot core 300 and I felt it made a dent for my allergies! Whichever you choose I’d go with one that has a TRUE HEPA filter, as that is what filters most of the allergens and pollens and other other nasties. Goodluck!

Are air purifiers worth it
Id say yes. If you have allergies especially! Late the game here but IMO I love the Austin air bedroom machine. It’s been a game changer and really makes a dent in my allergies. But I’ve also heard good things about IQ air as well, and also Aireox. I’ve used leviot 300 core in the past as well. I actually just did a tonnnnnnnn of research on air purifiers as well as I was considering if Austin air was the right one for me a bit ago and [put it all together here](https://www.cleanandhonest.com/blog/best-air-purifier-hepa-mold-allergies-more). Not sure if that’s helpful for your research :)

Best humidifier that is easy to maintain?
I bought the Levoit LV600HH and it’s been totally hands-off...the top-fill tank lifts right off so I just rinse and wipe it out in under two minutes, and the washable filter means I haven’t paid for replacements yet.

Air purifier recommendations
Hi OP! I bought three air purifiers from three different brands about two years ago (I wasn’t ready to put all my eggs in one basket), and now I’m shopping again because one (an Okaysou model) went out of business and I can’t get a replacement filter, and another one just stopped working. My Levoit Pet is still going strong, though! I have been really happy with its performance. I don’t know if it turns back on after a power outage, but that hasn’t really been an issue at my house. I am in the market for another Levoit and I just found this [database of all reputable air purifiers](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1Fy7yVcyt40HhpwIAeo0_AQRMs6xAxH_OvpuSvOzZs_g/htmlview#gid=1189882995)that another Redditor put together and was surprised to see they have so many options. There are lots of other brands to compare as well. Good luck! My only advice is to definitely go with something with an activated carbon filter – those are the ones that really attack odors.

I've been through my fair share of humidifiers, but I finally found one that's been a total game-changer for me, which is Levoit OasisMist Smart Humidifier. I enjoy my levoits. But if you want cheap and effective, while being flexible and long lived enough, make one out of a box fan and AC filters. They are ugly as sin but very effective when constructed properly and they last as long as a box fan lasts for whatever that's worth.

I’ve had 2 of those small cylindrical levoit air filters running on high 24/7 for 7 years. Some of the most impressive electrical devices I’ve ever used. Other than that, the lasko fan with the built in attachment for a square filter on the back is also incredible and I use it as well.

Best air purifier/filter?
A good option would be to look for one with a HEPA filter, as these are specifically designed to trap fine particles like dust. For an entire household, models like the Coway AP-1512HH or the Levoit Core 400S are popular for their efficiency and quiet operation. If you’re focusing on a specific room, a smaller unit like the Dyson Pure Cool can work well without taking up too much space. Make sure the purifier you choose has a CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) rating that matches your room size for the best results...

For a space around 275 sq ft, you might want to check out the Levoit LV600S or the Honeywell HCM-350. The Levoit is a solid ultrasonic option with warm and cool mist settings, plus a large tank for fewer refills. The Honeywell is an evaporative model, which tends to be easier to clean and doesn’t leave a fine mist on furniture. If you don’t mind spending a bit more, the Venta LW25 is another great option—it humidifies naturally without filters, so there’s less maintenance involved. Since cleaning was an issue with your last one, look for something with easy-access parts and simple upkeep...

Almost any cool mist humidifier will be easy and last well as long as you use distilled water only. Most of the maintenance issues revolve around mineral deposits and distilled water avoids all of that.
