  Ive had my lifestraw for about a year. Built really well and all the parts are available on their website. Hoping it lasts me a good 5 years or more.

It’s made of glass and fits perfectly in my fridge.  That said, I’m currently also shopping for a faucet attachment, because I do a ton of cooking with water. I’m currently sorting through this [database of water filters](https://www.reddit.com/user/frantically_unfinish/comments/1n6gno7/comparing_water_filters_for_home_use/) that I saw on another subreddit. You can sort by faucet mount and filter tap. Hopefully it’ll help you, too!

  What's a decent water filter pitcher or some other easy use water filtering system?

  There are a lot of decent options out there, but I think it really depends on what exactly you’re looking for as far as filtration goes. Some remove many things, and some are really specifically targeted.  Where I live in Michigan, there’s a lot of concern in the news about PFAS (forever chemicals), so I was specifically looking for something that targets these. I found another Reddit post [comparing all the water filter brands](https://www.reddit.com/user/frantically_unfinish/comments/1n6gno7/comparing_water_filters_for_home_use/), and you can just scroll over and see which items are filtered and which are not.  I ended up going with a LifeStraw water pitcher. It’s small, and I refill it a couple times a day, but I love that it’s glass and it's plenty enough for me. I think they have bigger options if you’re looking for a family or more than one person, too. Good luck!

  Brita Water Filter Pitcher... Any Alternatives??

  I have sworn by life straw for years. I first used their products when camping and it made river water drinkable. I now have the home system. It does the same thing and has the same distraction system. It removes and reduces microplastics, pharmaceuticals, and PFAS. The charcoal filter needs to be replaced every two months and the main filter once a year. I did the math and for the initial set up and a year of filters it is less than $30 different from a brita filter of the same size.

  This is so true. Every time shit hits the fan I find myself going to the camping gear. Things that have come in handy: - jackery solar panel & power bank - LED lights - shelf stable food requiring minimal prep - camping utensils, plates, cups, stove & lighters - camelbak, larger water reservoirs & lifestraw - RTIC cooler - first aid kit, tampons, sunscreen & bug repellent - Work gloves & tools (esp. shovel & chainsaw) - pocketknife/multitool - battery operated headlamps - sleeping bags

  A container of gasoline(bug out, or resource, or barter). A generator. A crank radio that will charge a phone. A battery for your phone and devices. Lawn landscaping solar lights are amazing. Bbq grill and propane. Extra propane. Water sanitizing pills. A life straw.

  [Lifestraw 7 cup glass water pitcher](https://a.co/d/0LZSsWC) filters out PFAS, microplastics, bacteria, parasites, herbicides, chlorine, lead, mercury, and chemicals. Made in South Korea. Replacement filters for 1 year are $75. I just got one of these and it is awesome. I love that it is glass as well are trying to eliminate as much plastic contacting our food as much as possible.

  We love our glass lifestraw! The plastic pitcher is unfortunately very prone to cracking and leaking from the bottom, we had one of those first but quickly swapped to glass.

  I have done about 10 minutes of research on this for similar reasons and was thinking about the Lifestraw Home high capacity unit. They have some glass pitchers, some small plastic ones and a big plastic one that holds about two gallons. It has the filament cartridge to filter microplastics and particles and bacteria (but no viruses - similar to a backpacking water filter) plus charcoal cartridge pucks that do filter PFAS and lots of other stuff like pharmaceuticals. Looks like it would cost about $75 a year for replacement cartridges which is cheaper than fridge water filters and about as much as taking 5 gallon jugs to Watermill Express.

  There are soooo many stainless steel bottles at the thrift store. Hydroflask, Yeti, Owala, life straw, Stanley, etc. they’re all basically the same.
