  Us it "Worth It" to Purchase a "Nice" Bath Towel?

  I bought unbleached linen towels from Linoto. They are heavy, thick, and a little scratchy and shed a lot of lint the first year… BUT. They don’t get pills in the dryer, every wash and dry makes them softer. It’s been 2 years and now I love them so much that I take one with me when I travel 😂

  Favorite/must haves in your home

  Linen sheets were a game changer for me. Cheaper ones are soft but won’t last too many years. I like them for the summer. Then thick Linoto linen sheets for the winter. For me All Clad stainless cookware is the best. I bought antique thick copper pots but they’re more high maintenance. Then cast iron. Doesn’t have to be fancy. Also as others have mentioned, a Vitamix blender is amazing. My other favorite gadget is an egg steamer. So fast and uses the smallest amount of water. Purely aesthetic, but best money I’ve spent on our house is adding windows and skylights. I appreciate the light and beauty every day!

  Linoto linen! Years in, still amazing a d look brand new. So cool, I sleep hot too. On memory foam. Because I’m a sadist I guess. Also tried rough linen (nice) and brooklinen, parachute, and quince (all meh). But every time I end up back with more linoto.

  On the hunt for durable linen sheets

  consider that modern fitted sheets are essentially disposable and are a scam. they get ground to bits by tossing, turning, adult activities. they can and will wear out. no sheet on the bottom will last. learn to make beds with a flat sheet on the bottom. out of frustration, i learned to sew my own from heavier 200- 250 gsm linen and "turn them" when they start to thin. i have a 2012 fergusons still going strong because of "turning". even in the old days grandma hit the white sales every january. the chatelaine of the older house would order a new bottom flat sheet every year from the convent or ireland or france or belgium. and make the worn out bits into top sheets, childrens sheets, servants sheets, pillowcases, napkins, rags, plant ties, and bandages. cascading uses of the linen . in modern parlance, the annual household cost would be about 500 US dollars to maintain the linen stash. linen was so expensive it would be part of the dowry. i have had exellent luck with ferguson irish linen, cuddledown italian plain sewn, linoto, and rough linen orkney, len linum, buzz words to watch out for: prewashed, washed, airy, lightweight, gauzy, stone washed, enzyme washed, all code words for cheesecloth, handkerchief weight, or pre damaged. edited to add: linoto and good seamstresses wash the linen before sewing. to make it move and shrink before sewing. this is different than washed to make it softer. i have improved my knowledge of tow linen and bast linen. also modern looms don't use the long flax fiber. they chop into bits to spin a lesser quality, shedding thread, it ism my opinion that the modern linen sheets are this lower quality chopped short fibers. consider the lithuanian, belgian ,france, and irish linen to use the proper long. bast fibers. another thing you can do is just replace the bottom sheet (open stock) top sheets never wear out. i stick with nautral , black and white so everything "goes"

  Anyone have linen sheets that lasted 5+ years?

  I just want to chime in with my Linoto experience. Bought the 210g Italian flax sheet set just over 4 years ago, used it daily, and today noticed our first hole in the bottom sheet. The fabric thinned out considerably, but it took over 4 years of sleeping on them every single day for the past 4 years.

  Silk Bed Sheets: I will NEVER go back to cotton

  My search began with looking for a linen quilt with wool fill; holy grail from a natural sleep perspective. I searched far and wide, including an Etsy fail. I then found the linoto quilted coverlet. I fell in love. And it’s then that I needed to have more, and followed up to purchase the whole sheet set, and became a linoto advocate.  In addition to my natural bedding fetish, I’m also big into supporting Made in USA when I can.  There is often a wait for the product after order, but that’s clearly maintaining strong operational control. A willingness to deliver quality product above all else. A rarity these days.   And ultimately, worth the wait in my opinion.  In the end comes packaged simple, minimal, and beautiful.

  If you’re willing to try linen, Linoto has a 21” pocket fitted sheet. They are extremely soft after washing.
