What is the equivalent of "Apple removed 3.5mm jack" of your favorite products ?
I ditched Windless around 2009 (the last straw being one too many BSODs) and never looked back, then ditched Mac as well. I have been happily using Linux Mint for many years now.

Try Linux Mint - Cinnamon. Google it. Install it. Mess around with it.

Microsoft's subscription program expands to Solitaire, Minesweeper, Sudoku, Mahjong and beyond: $2.99/mo. or $19.99/yr. per game. Subscription also tied to PC, not Microsoft account.
Buy-it-for-life PC and software is easy: just nuke Windows and install a distro of Linux. Linux Mint or Fedora or Debian or Ubuntu. Your old PC is not slowing down because the silicon and copper are going bad (that doesn't happen); it's because "big software" cooperates with "big hardware" to ensure you need to keep buying a new PC every few years. Folks who produce open source software don't have that motivation. I've got a thirteen year old laptop that was low-spec when it was new - with windows it's basically unusable, but with Linux it works great.
