  What step ladder should I BFL?

  We bought a Little Giant years ago. It's not exactly a stepladder, but functions as one. It is heavy, occasionally awkward, and indestructible. It and a good 3-step folding stepstool for lightbulbs and the like are all we have now.

  Ladder Comparison - for home

  Old post I know, but looking at ladders now and I can attest to both the Little Giant and The Gorilla ladder. Home Depot does NOT make this thing cheap. I have a smaller model and the thing is sturdy, I have literally used it for the craziest things I shouldn't have, I've put it to the test dozens of times, it is legit and well made. I know it's just as well made because we've always had a Little Giant (larger model), and though it works well after all these years I certainly can't argue any better build quality. Used it multiple times for getting up on the roof, shakier than the gorilla ladder but simply because it extends and the gorilla model I have is only 14 ft. But yeah, quality wise, as someone using both, it's the same difference. They also make a gorilla ladder with wheels that supports like 375 lbs. You won't go wrong either way. (Currently Gorilla ladders are more expensive so... Go for the Little Giant unless you've got a thing for the color or gorillas).

  Home improvement gifts for a first time homeowner?

  Do you know his favorite brand? A gift can quickly turn into a curse if you get the wrong one.  That being said, a corded DeWalt miter saw (12in preferred, 10in maybe OK) is something brand loyalists sometimes take exception for, and because it's corded, isn't tied to a battery system.  Depending on your relationship and his relationship with home improvement, a Little Giant ladder (+ optional leveler is awesome) and an inspection camera (preferably a AA battery one if unsure his favorite battery system), are "sillier" gifts people would rarely buy themselves but end up using a bunch once they have it.

  What's one item you've owned for years that's still going strong-and was totally worth the money?

  I inherited my dad's Little Giant Ladder. I still remember the demo at the home show he bought it at in the early 1990's, and helping him carry it out to the car through the masses of people in each aisle. It is in great operating condition 30+ years later.

  Event the harbor freight knock off of the little giant is pretty amazing. The quality overall is better with the LG but if you can’t afford the spring, the HF version is worth every penny too.

  While not BIFL, is there a highly recommended Dehumidifier?

  I got a vellgoo model number VGE033A3BS a year and a half ago and a Little Giant water pump model number 554425 with it. Both are still working great. The dehumidifier pours water into the pump and when the pump basin fills it pumps the water out into a utility sink.
