Is there anything you're convinced is "the cheaper the better"?
No. Buy something good and pass it on. Trade back and forth or resale. Less crap going in landfills. My kids llbean pack will outlast me. The Remia coat that she wears has two other kids names written above hers.

Why is it so hard to find well-made clothes that aren't insanely priced?
Patagonia, Marmot, Orvis, LLBean (admittedly hit or miss), Barbour, Eileen Fisher (for women), check Irish import stores. Look at thrift stores for older Brooks Brothers, Ralph Lauren, Banana Republic, even Gap.

[Request] Zip top canvas tote bags
I have both. Both are extremely sturdy in my opinion. What I like about the LandsEnd options are the inner and outer pockets (the LLbean version does not have pockets). I also liked their options for longer handles- which I wanted but didn’t get due to my preferred color/size being out of stock. I do think LLBean has better monogram options & placement. Can’t go wrong tho.

What’s one product you bought that has lasted forever and was totally worth it?
I was just thinking the other day about my LLBean Deluxe Book Pack that I bought for school in \~1994 and is still as bulletproof today. It's taken a lot of abuse in travel, weather, etc. I believe I paid around $50 which was a lot at the time but it's been a purchase that has been WELL worth it.
