  It is, but it’s kind of a part of the charm. You can buy via online storefront at [Topsy Farms](https://www.topsyfarms.com/collections/wool-blankets-1) if you prefer. Topsy sells the MacAusland blanket, but also makes their own wool which is quite lovely.

  +1 for MacAusland. Patrick King Woollen Company does really nice wool blankets too. The Anian recycled wool + 20% nylon blankets are good too (though a bit less durable). We tend to combine and layer our different wool blankets depending on the temperature. The MacAusland is a looser weave and breathes best, but the other ones are better at blocking drafts and make good top blanket layers.

  There are a lot on ebay but the prices are ridiculous (750 to 3k!!!). I have bought a couple from marketplace locally for much less, but you have to see them in person to assess quality and any issues. I did reply bwlos, but MacAusland is awesome. 150$cad for a new queen size wool blanket is a great price. You do have to wait in the queue, the blankets are made to order and can take a few months. I'm ordering mine this week to hopefully have them for Christmas for gifts. Well worth the wait.

  They are a bit behind the time on that front but they're worth it. My fiance's family is from the island and we were gifted a MacAusland throw that we love. Once we get through the necessary renovations to our place and move on to painting we'll get one for our bedroom that goes with the colour we choose.

  Hudson Bay Wool Blanket: Modern vs. Vintage

  Just sent you a chat invite. I would say the 60's would be the cutoff for me for the HBC as far as the nap and thickness is concerned. For anyone who buys a new blanket and hasn't seen or touched a much older blanket, they'll be extremely happy with their purchase, no doubt about it! The blankets are still thick and super warm and really great (I do have newer ones myself and love them) but as far as softness is converned, older is better for me. The MacAusland hits a sweet spot of both warmth and softness (and weighs about 5 pounds, so quite substantial), but I wouldn't want to use it outside, it just doesn't feel as rugged as the HBC. The HBC blankets can weigh 6-7 pounds, they're built like tanks.

  Hudson Bay Wool Blanket: Modern vs. Vintage

  I feel like this is a question for me! I have a lot of wool blankets, with 8 or 9 of them being Hudson Bay, ranging from 1930 to one I bought a couple of weeks ago, as well as a few of others from different companies (Early's and MacAusland). There is definitely a difference between the blankets as far as thickness and wool is concerned. Some of the older ones have a much thicker nap, the wool is like fur and about an inch long, it's crazy! The Original Early's from the 30's is the thickest, furriest blanket I've ever had, it's incredible. I haven't seen anything new that compared to it! The MacAusland is fantastic, softer than the newer Hudson Bay, I think you'd love those. If you want me to send you pictures of the blankets so you can really see how different they are, let me know, I'll be happy to. You'll see right away what I mean.

  Those Macausland blankets are amazing. Our friends brought some lap quilts back for us when they visited PEI last fall, and we’ve been living under them this whole cold winter.

  Just got a MacAusland wool throw about one week ago — I’m incredibly impressed thus far, fwiw. Really excited to see how it breaks in over time. They were also really nice & friendly when I ordered over the phone. Recommend.

  Macausland wool blanket, made on P.E.I. from raw wool produced in the Atlantic. I gave one to my partner a couple years ago, and it's the best blanket ever.
