Who uses and recommends which earplugs?
You might want to look into **Loop Quiet** or **Mack’s Pillow Soft Silicone** earplugs. Both are known for lasting much longer than standard foam types and for being easy to clean. The silicone material doesn’t lose shape over time and still blocks plenty of noise for sleep. Loop tends to fit better for smaller ears, while Mack’s molds to the ear shape more naturally.

Foam or corded ear plugs from U.S. Standard Products - what works best?
Mack's Ultra Soft are the most comfortable ones by a good margin and have 33db reduction which is as much as you can get. Certainly my favorites. If this is for a job site get the plastic bucket looking package that has 100 pairs in their own little bags inside.

the best noise reduction earplugs for sleeping?
I used to use Mack’s Swimmers (and still do). I was having issues with the adult ones being too big. Found the kid’s version and they work perfect. I also put them into a hydrogen peroxide/water mixture to reuse them without them getting all gross. Just rinse well with water after soaking about 10-15 minutes. Works great for me.

If he’s ok with a wired one, look into the beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro, 32 Ohm version. Built well, repairable. No active noise cancelling but they insulate well enough that they might work for him. The pads are also THE MOST COMFORTABLE EVER. But, cable. Whatever you do, stay away from anything by Audio Technica. They’re notorious for breaking right on yoke between earpads and headband. For earplugs, look into Mack’s Thermafit soft foam earplugs with NRR 29. I myself have small ears and they work great for me. I’m very sensitive to noise, and when needed I pair those earplugs with headphones

Earplugs For Sleeping
The loop quiet didn’t block enough noise for me. I’m somewhat of an earplug connoisseur. The best one for you will be determined by the size of your ear canal and your sensitivity to materials. My ear canals are small and pretty sensitive. I love the Mack Ultra Soft Foam Ear Plugs. I get many uses out of them, but I still have to purchase more every once in a a while. I use them nightly.
