  Magimix is pretty awesome. The motor comes with a 30y guarantee and the rest is covered for life. As far as I know, products are made in France. Replacement parts are easy to find, either directly from Magimix or through third party suppliers. They also share technology with their professional counterpart, Robot-Coupe, which is very well-known here in France.

  Seeking food processor - my 14 cup one can’t do small batches

  Magimixes are great (my mom’s Cuisinart Custom 14 feels like a poorly designed toy compared to it) and come with a smaller bowl insert. Certainly doesn’t take up less space than the Cuisinart though. imo big food processors are the only ones worth having though.

  Kitchen System Recs?

  Avoid like the plague. Especially these type of devices. Vitamix blender and a cuisinart or Magimix food processor is the way to go if you’re serious about BIFL. Pick whichever one you use least frequently and store that in the cabinet to save counter space.

  Brands That Used to Be BIFL — But Aren't Anymore?

  Source? I thought the old school Cuisinart food processors everyone loved were made in Japan Robo Coupe has a separate brand intended for home use called Magimix. They’re great and I’d 1000% recommend that over anyone buying an actual Robo Coupe for home

  I’ve gone through three cheap blenders and they all died within 2 years!What’s the most BIFL blender out there that can actually crush ice and last decades?

  Magimix. They have something like a 20 year warranty iirc. Mine is solidly built

  Robot coupe r2 or magimix 4200

  Robot Coupes get fetishized, but ultimately it’s a commercial machine and probably isn’t right for you unless you have commercial use cases. If you will always be making stuff in large quantities, that may be better. If, like most home cooks, sometimes you need to make a big batch of dough and other times you just need to make a little bit of sauce, the Magimix is going to be a lot more usable for you. Both are great machines. Just depends how you’ll actually be using it.

  I've got a magimix 4200. It's good. I like it. I think it would be perfectly adequate for your uses, and a chunk cheaper. That said, I've only had it a year or two, so I can't comment on whether it's durable.

  What’s a kitchen item you bought once and never had to replace?

  Kinda depends on what you cook, we're a mixed west/east cooking house so the list reflects that. And these have been collected across a 35 year span and frequent trips to both western and eastern restaurant supply shops, not all at once: Tatung steamer/rice cookers, Ohaus valor 3000 xtreme scale, vintage high carbon knives (mostly French), good Chinese cleaver (Master Wu Artillery Steel), Benriner mandoline slicer (blades are replaceable), carbon steel woks in two sizes, EZ Wok outdoor wok burner cart, cast iron and carbon steel pans, Vigor induction ready sauce pans in a variety of sizes, Russell Hobbs kettle and toaster when they were made in the UK, solid wood (olive, beech & bamboo) utensils (spoons, spatulas), Nordic Naturals muffin and cake tins, Vollrath half and quarter sheet pans, Vollrath heavy duty stainless bowels in a variety of sizes, heavy duty stainless steel measure cups and spoons, PYREX volumetric measuring cuts, Waring all metal commercial grade immersion blender (2 speeds, replaceable blades), Braun Universal Mixer, Vitamix blender (I honestly wouldn't buy this if I had it to do over, it's our most rarely used gadget). The food processor has been replaced (killed beyond repair a Cuisinart, bought a used Magimix, had just for year) and the KitchenAid Professional (HA) had to be repaired twice so we gave up and switched to the Braun for bread doughs and barely use it now. #

  Looking for a new blender. Anyone know of a buyItForLife one. I'd take 10 year + for this category.

  Mine’s from 2011, it’s simply the one magimix blender they made back then.
