  Men's rain jacket that's actually waterproof

  The most important factor on a rain jacket is the dwr (durable water repellant) coating. DWR is a coating applied to a fabric like Gore-Tex which makes the water bead up and roll off the surface instead of soaking into the fabric. DWR does not make the fabric waterproof but it prevents the surface fabric from being saturated which traps moisture inside the jacket. Most waterproof fabrics will not lose their waterproofness but the DWR wars off and the jacket will "wet out". If you feel wet in a waterproof jacket, it is more than likely moisture or condensation coming from your body which is not able to escape the jacket. Maintaining your DWR finish is critical for the life of a jacket. Check out this link from Goretex for some illustrations on how it works. You wont go wrong with anything from Arcteryx, Patagonia, The North Face or Mammut but they are not inexpensive. For more budget friendly options look at REI, Columbia, or Marmot. If you have a jacket that you liked in the past, there are ways to revitalize the DWR finish and can make the jacket feel like new.

  Looking for the best wallets for men that actually last

  Unpopular opinion, I don’t buy leather wallets anymore. I’ve been using the Mammut Xeron folding wallet for years now and it’s like new. Durable fabrics are amazing, and the build quality is superb.

  What are some BIFL wool clothing brands, especially those that have wool summer clothing (if such thing exists)?

  As most manufacturers use merino, BIFL is tricky. Merino is fantastic, but it’s just not as tough.  Wool in general is magical. If you plan to use it in non-contact ways in summer, ie every day wear, road running, some sports like tennis or pickleball(gross) it’s great. But if you’re like me, I hike a ton and get outdoors where brambles, rocks etc, will shred merino quick.  My recommend is organic cotton hemp and linen in summer. Vintage stuff from eBay goes a long way. Patagonia, Mammut, some La sportiva, and outlier from eBay, will cover your basis nicely on those fronts.  As far as winter wear goes, Icelandic wool and Shetland get you pretty close to BIFL. Some of my Icelandic sweaters are from eBay, likely manufactured in the early 90’s or 80’s but still feel practically new.  Those wools will hold up well.  Basically the thicker the wool strand, the closer to BIFL.

  Non-popular sneakers which will last at least couple of years

  The easy answer is that I don't use sneakers or any shoes daily. I typically alternate between a pair of laced up ankle high leather boots Blake stitched, small Italian company. Some dress shoes, also Blake, probably same company. Some leather Ecco sneaker type trainers. And some Mammut approach shoes. I find the approach shoes to be the most durable actually because they are built for pretty heavy use. All of those except the Eccos can be resoled for not a lot of money. So you can happily walk in sandpaper all day and still have them last if they have good quality uppers. Most of the purchases were basically the most expensive shoes I could find that were the most heavily discounted.

  Saucony, Brooks, Mizuno, Mammut, Innov8, Salewa, Scarpa, Sportiva, Lowa. All of those have a particular reputation for longevity and general quality. Bear in mind it may depend on the particular purpose, for instance more specialist/high performance models of those brands may be comparatively short lived, i.e. shoes that are intended to help you win a race at all costs. :)  But in truth the BIFL answer is to buy cheap when sales come around. Combine with the above, there's your answer. Shoes don't live forever, it's about making your money go further.
