Any experience with Manduka yoga mats ?
I have a giant square manduka pro in my living room. I think it’s a truly BIFL item.

Got mine for close to 15 years. Still looks like new. Once I thought i ruined it in a corner by leaving it unappropriately in the sun, but it got back in it's proper form a couple of days later. I was surprised!

Any experience with Manduka yoga mats ?
I bought a Manduka PROlite over 10 years ago. Still going strong, and I use it 3 times per week. It’s an awesome mat for yoga classes, but now that I practice just at home, I kind of wish I had a Pro.

Any experience with Manduka yoga mats ?
I'm a fellow Canadian using a Manduka Pro Lite mat for the past seven or eight years. It took some time to break in, but it's a fantastic mat. Because I practice at several studios, I like that it weighs less than the Black Mat Pro and is more portable. Like the Pro, the Pro Lite also comes with a limited lifetime warranty. I had a Manduka Eko mat but it started to wear out prematurely. They were very honest with me that natural rubber mats like the Eko aren't the best option for an active vinyasa practice. My Pro Lite mat is still in excellent condition despite being used several times a week.

Any experience with Manduka yoga mats ?
I have two manduka mats - the 13 year old one shows some wear and tear (I used it a ton). My 8 year old one that’s used only a few times a month is in perfect shape.

Their PRO mats are awesome, really the gold standard. There's a good reason pretty much every yoga instructor I've ever had used their mats. If you practice at home the PRO Long & Wide is worth a look, the extra real estate is amazing especially if you do other core workouts or mat Pilates or extended stretching routines. But they're heavy and bulky so not something you'd want to roll up and take to the studio.

Dark gray manduka pro. Have owned since 2018 and still looks and feels new with at least 2 days per week. Doing yoga on any other mat will not feel the same. Once you go manduka you don't go back.

I love mine I've had it since 2018 looks brand new after I clean it. I can only compare it to my previous $20 mat from target though.

Any experience with Manduka yoga mats ?
My Manduka pro is 10 years old. I dont do yoga but use it a few times a week for Pilates and other exercises. My large dogs walk all over it, people borrow it and jump around on it in sneakers. It still looks brand new. It is indestructible. I couldn’t imagine not having one.

Any experience with Manduka yoga mats ?
They are great quality but on a bit more of the slippery side. There’s a whole process involving salt and sun to make them less slippery but I haven’t bothered. The pro is heavy and large, too heavy to tote around to classes in my opinion. I do think they are BIFL and I like to have one at home. But for travel/classes I really like the 5mm lululemon mats: perfect level of grip, easy to transport, good level of cushioning. If my joints are feeling a bit achier I layer this one on top of the Manduka also. It’s softer than the Manduka and the grip makes it easier.

I got the manduka pro 6mm in a pretty color but yes it’s quite slippery :(. I also got the Manduka X version (smaller and 5mm) and I will have to see if it’s grippier

The Manduka pro mats are super slippery. I guess if you break it in, it'll be less slippery? I've had to borrow a Manduka pro at studios a few times when I didn't have my own, and every time I've hated it. However, I swear by the Manduka eco. I've had mine since 2019 and it's still going strong. I had one before that, too, but left it in another country when I moved (nothing wrong with it, though). Super grippy.

Manduka is my favorite mat of all time. I have several other brands and always reach for the Manduka. If you were planning to take the mat with you to class, consider the Manduka Pro Lite. It’s thick enough for the knees and comfort, but not so heavy that it’s cumbersome to haul around. If your mat is for home use only, then definitely get a thicker one. The Pro weighs 7.5 lbs and is quite thick when rolled up.

My wife and I both have one and have used them weekly for 2.5 years now. Neither one shows signs of wear or material breakdown. My wife uses a mat cover and has a travel bag. I use no cover and just tie a string around it for transport. They've held up great.

Any experience with Manduka yoga mats ?
I've been using a Manduka Pro for a couple of years. I take 3 yoga classes weekly, and my mat still looks new. It took some time to break it in and get rid of the greasy coating, but once that was removed, it's been a wonderful mat. I expect it will last for decades and am glad I purchased it. I like it so much that I also grabbed a Manduka block and strap. Both are excellent quality as well.

My Black Mat Pro def feels like a BIFL item. I have had it since 2009 and I don’t see replacing it anytime soon.

The og thick ones really are the best - have had one for years. Their less expensive eco(?) line is good too

We have one, but have only had it a year. Best mat we’ve owned. I bet it will hold up for a long time.

What's something you've had forever that surprisingly outlasted its time ?
The first yoga class I ever went to I didn’t have a mat. The teacher had this giant roll of yoga mat material. She measured out some cut it and sold it to me for $25. I have now been doing yoga for 20 years on this mat. I eventually got a Manduka rug to put over it (which is now at least 10 years old) but the original mat is still in good shape.

BIFL Exercise Mat Recommendation - Manduka
strongly support this. I have two of the thinner Mats as well as one of the giant 2m x 2m ones. All in regular use, going strong for about 10 years now. Can only speak for the Pro series, though.

Name your top 5 BIFL items
1 Manduka Pro yoga mat. At 6’3”, I wish I’d gone for the tall version, but the thing really IS built for life so I’m stuck with the standard size 😆 2 Nomos Tangente Watch (hand winding version). Aside from servicing, this is a (dressier) watch for life. 3 Lamy 2000 fountain pen. Classy yet durable! 4 Grohmann slimline folder pocket knife. 5 Feather safety razor. Honourable mentions: My seemingly indestructible meditation cushion set (brand unknown), and titanium gongfu/gaiwan tea set.
