Sweaters for sensitive skin
I too have sensitive skin.When wearing merlino wool I wear a thermal top as a base.They come in turtleneck and are extremely comfortable and allow me to wear merlino wool.Also,less stylish but extremely warm are heavy fleece sweaters. No underlayer required for these.Throw them in the washer and they won't shrink. Cotton is good too just not as warm.

Sweaters for sensitive skin
I try to buy 100% cotton everything for this very reason. I do have a couple of merino wool sweaters (and some socks) that seem to be agreeable with my skin as well. Anything that isn't 100% cotton, I wear a cotton layer under.

Looking for the thinnest and most insulting jacket
Layers and layers. My favorite bang for the buck jackets for outside are Eddy Bauer hooded puffs. I have several arteryx puffs and Eddy Bauer is just as good. For layers i use pollen wood sweaters and mirino wool long underwear from costco.

What's a purchase under $50 that has genuinely improved your daily routine?
For anyone who works construction (or if your significant other does): A boot dryer. They go for $25-$100 on amazon. I got a cheap one and it's been working fine for the past year. My boots are just over a year old, with the original insoles, and smell brand new. They are waterproof leather boots so my feet are at least somewhat damp from perspiration by the time I get home every day. I put them on the boot dryer for an hour. I wasn't expecting it to work that well, but just the other day I smelled my boots and there is no funk, just that nice leather smell. On top of the boot dryer, Merino wool socks will help keep the funk away as well.
