Michelin tires have never let me down. Long-lasting, good traction, no flats, good ride. WeatherTech floor mats have saved my carpets. Pyrex kitchen ware, Civivi and Spyderco knives. Honda and Toyota have been good for me up to 250,000 miles.

Has everything we buy reduced in quality over time? Has anything increased in quality or stayed high quality and durable?
It doesn't. At least not primarily. You can see it most easily at the highest end of motorsports, but it applies to all levels of tires. For example, modern FWD street cars like the Civic Type R (higher weigh & lower HP) have better times on the Nuremberg Ring than the 2002 Pagani Zonda S, 2006 Porsche 911 GT3, and 2007 Lamborghini Murcialago from just a few years ago. The Civic has much lower power than all of those cars and a much higher weight than the Pagani (slightly higher than the Porsche & similar to the Lamborghini). Snow & all-weather tires are another good place to compare. Modern all-weather tires (all-seasons with the three peak snow rating) are every bit as good as snow tires from 5 or six years ago and blow the doors off snow tires from 20 years ago, much less 30+ years ago. Motorcycle tires are another one. Tires are far stickier and last longer than they did when I started riding 25 years ago. Tires like the Michelin Pilot Road 5 will let you get your knee down far easier than the original Pilot Sports and last 3-4 times as long, while being much better in the rain.
