Best Dehumidifier for Basement Moisture Problems
It's true, the[ Media Cube 35-print ](https://www.reddit.com/r/homeowners/comments/1ok720z/which_dehumidifier_hasnt_died_on_you_yet_need/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)really stands out for basement use. It's handles more moisture runs longer without needing constant emptying and the design is just easier to live with. If someone wants a more hands off options that actually keep a damp basement under control, it's a solid pick.

Is there anything you're convinced is "the cheaper the better"?
Yeah, funnily enough Midea makes nearly all microwaves out there. Samsung, LG, GE, they're all just a Midea microwave with a different skin and buttons/features. You can buy a Samsung microwave and get a cool screen or extra features, but at the end of the day, the reliability and core functionality is going to be the same as your generic no-name microwave, because it's all Midea inside. Your contractor knew what he was talking about, kudos to him for saving you some money.

Microwave buy it for life?
Hey, if Midea makes their microwaves like they make their portable heat pump ac/heating units (the ones that hook into the window), then it probably isn't that bad. I've been using the crap out of my Midea for about three years now, near constantly. I know it doesn't really work that way, but hey.

Quietest but GOOD dehumidifier?
The quietest compressor unit I’ve used is the Midea Cube 35 or 50 pint from Home Depot.

Best dehumidifier to humid and moldy environment?
My basement used to stay damp and musty, and the Midea Cube 50-pint has been the best thing I’ve tried.

So hot in California. Window unit AC’s… how do you choose one?
Pretty happy with my Midea inverter 12000 BTU. Not one of the recalled U-shaped units. The prices were going up while I shopped. I found it at Sam's for $259 and now it's $350 everywhere.

Dehumidifier, or are they all shit?
It was a link to an excel sheet for dehumidifiers ranking them according to certain parameters that were also listed and ranked. It was an extremely thorough sheet, but it probably got removed because the creator earns commission from some of the links. I got a Midea Dehumidifier from this list and it’s been kicking ass the past week

Window AC unit recommendations?
I have the midea u shaped ac. Can confirm that installation is a pain. No mold issues to my knowledge. It's quiet and has been reliable. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it unless you don't plan to remove it for the winter/off-season.

Dehumidifier, or are they all shit?
It looks like they updated them (not sure why they have WiFi now), but this is the one I’d recommend: https://a.co/d/fepX9s7

Looking to upgrade window A/C unit
Midea U-shaped. One of the most quiet and efficient and quiet units out there by a long shot. It's basically like having a mini-split in your window. Initial installation is a bit tricky, but once it's in it's fantastic.

Can anyone recommend a portable AC unit for cooling a bedroom? Preferably one that isn’t that loud
Look for an inverter unit, as it produces far less noise. Also, get a dual-hose unit, as these do not create negative pressure inside your room. Midea makes some solid models. Check out this [air conditioner comparison sheet](https://www.reddit.com/r/talkfreeley/comments/1j2omjm/air_conditioner_product_resource/) that another Redditor out together. It lists almost all of their models and features.

Looking for a top of the line portable AC unit.
The Midea Duo MAP14HS1TBL is a solid option. It cools well with a 14,000 BTU capacity, runs quietly, and has a dual-hose system for better efficiency. It’s also a 2-in-1 unit with heating. Pros: Quiet, efficient, good for larger rooms. Cons: It can be a bit heavy and uses more energy.

Here are a few basic things to look into. Firstly, for an inverter unit. ACs with inverters produce far lower noise as compared to those without. They are a bit more expensive, though. Secondly, while this may not be related to noise, get a dual hose unit. These work like traditional ACs and do not create negative pressure inside your room. Single-hose ACs are weird as they suck in the air inside the room to cool their coils. For the exact model, Midea makes some nice models, but I recommend checking this spreadsheet of all the air conditioners. It lists almost all of their models and their specs. This should be a great starting point for your research. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1W4wZVjK2fqi5yr21C5R_KEcGlHoL27GK-wuDA2B8U6o/edit?gid=469638992#gid=469638992

While not BIFL, is there a highly recommended Dehumidifier?
We’re using a Midea “cube” and it works like a champ. App is helpful too. 👍👍

Completely silent mini-fridge for a dorm room.
I am extremely sensitive to fan noise and the one I got for my office has been good so far. There IS a click for the compressor but as others have said, I don't think it's possible to be 100% silent. This one will operate very quietly and then click off, it's off most of the time. It was also on sale for 99 bucks at costco, I bought two. Midea single door, I believe it's item number 1652803 but their site appears to be down for me. 3.3 CU feet [https://www.costcobusinessdelivery.com/midea-compact-refrigerator%2c-3.3-cu-ft%2c-black.product.100460500.html](https://www.costcobusinessdelivery.com/midea-compact-refrigerator%2c-3.3-cu-ft%2c-black.product.100460500.html)
