Driving Shoe Recommendations
I’m not sure how BIFL any shoe (especially ones that can’t be resoled) are but the Minnetonka moccasins I l’ve bought seem to hold up well. They’ve got a couple of different driving moccasins. I’ve got a pair of their Moosehide Weekenders that have heavier driver style soles. I don’t wear them much because they didn’t stretch as much as their Leather Laced Soft Soles did to fit my wide feet. I had been wearing the Soft Soles around the house for about a year and wanted something similar but a bit more rugged to wear out and about. My Soft Soles are still in pretty good shape. The thin foam insert that comes in them got a hole worn in it around where my big toe was but that was easy enough to replace. The moose hide is a fairly thick leather, I probably would have been better off getting one of their moccasins made from soft suede with an outer sole on them. For someone without Hobbit feet, they would probably be fine.

What is the longest lasting house slipper?
This used to be my favorite. I destroy shoes for some reason, but my first pair of Minnetonkas lasted over three years of daily wear. Unfortunately, the enshittification seems to have come for them. My last pair only went a year before the outside edge wore through and blew out.

Request: mens' indoor/occasional quick outdoor slippers that are warm and good at wicking moisture (and aren't LL Bean Wicked Good)
I'm just past two years on my Minnetonka "Tildens" and have been impressed with them, no loose stitching and the soles show very little wear (and I wear them outside more than I probably should). They're imported but Minnetonka seems to hold their factories to pretty high standards. I don't know about their other "hard sole" slipper types, but the "MinnTREAD" on these seems to do great. The Tilden is just a polyester faux-fur lining, but their "Tobie" is the same thing with natural sheepskin lining. My feet don't sweat much so I'm not one to make recommendations there, but wool is generally good at handling moisture.

GF wants to by Ugg boots. I feel like she could do better. What are some BIFL alternatives to ugg boots?
I seem to be the dissenting opinion here and say that ugg boots are overpriced and you're paying for the name. That said I am a guy with a 15 wide foot and ugg was the only company I could find that had something in my size. I do think I overpayed for them but I don't have heat in my house and I bought them through Nordstroms so I could have the warranty. I think the Costco Boots are amazing with warranty and construction [here](http://www.costco.com/Kirkland-Signature%E2%84%A2-Ladies%E2%80%99-Shearling-Buckle-Boot-Chestnut.product.100155402.html).
