Of course no shoes are going to last a lifetime but I’m trying to build a pretty good collection (are made in Japan converse worth it?)
Mongrel tend to be pretty good, my last pair were a few years old by the time I replaced them. I’m trying Elten boots this time and they seem decent but the sole is super solid and gets a bit firm to walk on, but the boa laces are really convenient

Nice looking men's boots that will work in an office, but stand up to Chicago winters
Here in Australia many people go with Mongrels (Chelsea style). They are under $200 and rival even JM Williams in terms of quality

Thank you blundstone for 8 great years
Blundstone soles have been shit for years, they always wear through and collapse long before the rest of the boot gives out. Better picks are Mongrel and Steel Blue boots though there's no real bifl work boots

Recommendations wanted for everyday chelsea/dealer boots for wet/humid weather (HK)
I know, but I live in a humid, walking city in Hong Kong + I come from Kathmandu, which is muddy as hell during monsoons and dirty everywhere. And I want something that will hold up to both those environments. So I'm between the Redwings, the Jim Greens and the Mongrel right now.

If you're leaning toward RedWings, just know the price does reflect build quality—Goodyear welt, thick leather, and longevity. But yeah, import fees do inflate the UK price. Worth it long term, but Mongrels might be the smarter buy right now.

Very sad to say Blundstones are no longer BIFL. I had a pair in my youth that lasted me a decade. Now after a few short months the soles of this pair has literally turned to dust!
Redback and mongrel are practically the same and made in Australia, a youtube channel called rose anvil cuts blundstones and redbacks apart if you want to see that

they aren’t made in australia anymore, you should get redbacks or mongrels they’re still made here and they’re good quality

Redbacks and mongrel boots are still great quality. And still made in Australia

BIFL equivalent for Rossi/Blundstone boots?
I’ve been rocking Mongrel work boots for about 3 months now. Honestly the most comfortable work boots I’ve owned in 7 years I’ve worn boots everyday. Made in Australia, Aussie owned. Can’t go wrong in my eyes.
